When I bought the truck, the previous owner installed an alpine stereo, two 6'' speakers in the back , 2 tweeters in the front and is wired for 2 subs and an amp.

Every so often during the spring when it is raining a lot and in the winter when it is cold, the speakers crackle and shut off all sound completely until the passenger door is opened or bumped. The stereo is still on and the cd plays and it shows that the radio station can be changed but no sound.

Up until today, this only happened in the rain or cold but today I drove on some rough gravel washboards and the sound cut off and it didn't come back on. Stereo is still working but no sound at all.

The probem could be fixed before by bumping or opening and closing the passenger door so I think the problem is in there but I don't know why all the speakers don't work any more.

Anyone know what is wrong or how to fix this? Or at least does anyone know how to remove the door panel on a 1995 tacoma?

    Thanks for the help.

Start with the basics: The wiring. Pop the door panels off and make sure the speaker wire is securely attached to the speakers. If that doesn't fix it, then try popping out the dash and make sure that the wiring harness is properly and securely attached to the harness coming out of the back of the deck. If he installed new speakers, check to see if he installed a new crossover as well, and if he did... once again, check the wires

Not yet. I really haven't had time to look yet.

Checked all of the fuses and they were ok. Took the dash apart underneath the ash tray and this is what I found.

Some of the exposed twisted together wires had come apart. I twisted them back and now I have sound. Now I have to go connect them the right way and get it covered up.
