I've been researching for hours, is there any possible setup that will fit (without cutting) 16" wheels and 33in tires on a 3in lift? I've heard 285s rub and require cutting but I can't find a 33in tire that's also 265. I'm looking at getting method 304 wheels and maybe 2in spacers. Anyone have ideas?

Look into 255/85/16 “pizza cutter” tires. There are some combos that will work without extra lift or cutting. There are some threads hear about it too. I think you’ll need a 0 offset on the wheel.

x2 about changing your title to something a little calmer.

Think they will look too skinny? or stupid with spacers?

    Spacers, maybe.

Here's my opinion. Fat tires are boring. A 255 in 32" and 0 offset is classic. It's balanced: It's cool without trying to look cool. It's the popular kid that doesn't call attention to himself. It suits a Tacoma better than a shoehorned 33" x 285. It simply complements the truck in a way that fat tires don't.

People who comment on my setup don't say wow, or cool. They say something weird instead. They say, "you did it correct," or "that's set up like you know what you're doing."

    PXL_20240518_174230814.MP~2.jpg

Pizza cutters are a deliberate choice, and few people are bold enough to go that route. But those that do, know what they're doing.

I had 255/85/16s for a couple years and then switched to 285/75/16s. Personally, I like the 285 look better but I wouldnt say they looked dumb. Depending on the offset and spacers, it could make the 255s rub.

I can’t find any good front shots showing the two different tires and 3/4 shots I don’t think will help much

What did you have to do to fit 285s? Because that's definitely the look I would prefer

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Pizza cutters. Your gas gauge will thank you. I have 1" spacers and only had minor rubbing on certain turns at different parts of suspension compression. And they work great off road, there are few things that may trip you up.

I’ve got a 2.5 lift, adjustable UCAs and have trimmed the front wheel well plastic and a cab mount chop. If I tried harder I probably could have found a shop to do a better alignment to avoid the rubbing. Also if I went with 0 offset and not -12 it would have been less rubbing

I've got a 2.5-3.0'' lift with 255/85/16's. These are mated with Method 701's and JBA upper control arms.
No issues with rubbing on, or off highway.

    Cheers

The cost vs benefits and negatives vs positives do not support 285/75/16 over 265/75/16. 265/75/16's are the sweet spot giving you the most for the least cost and negatives.

I agree that 255/85/16's are a better way to go, but you're still looking at a much more expensive E rated tire and reduced performance of a 33" tire

Spacers or a negative offset will require a cab mount chop. With a proper alignment and zero offset wheels you can most likely get by without the chop and just some plastic trimming.

There is that big negative to 255s; there are not many choices in that tire size

the key is wheel offset, you want it to be no more pokey than +5mm and then at the same time stay as far away from UCA as possible (if you are going with 285s).
I recently got 255/80r17 with +4mm offset wheels and experienced manageable rubbing on the back of the front wheel well. Cut some plastic and it was resolved (stock suspension).

First the Method 304 looks like it does not come in a 16" But Method are great wheels so are plenty of choices especially with 17" wheels.
What is your use case? Are you doing any off roading or are just going for looks ?
I have a 2" lift with 285/75R16 with a +10 offset but I went ahead and did a viper cut and CMC I also went with an SPC UCA (people on here hate SPC though) to get a good alignment. But I did all that because I go off road and wanted to make sure I had no rubbing issues but if you are not doing any hard off road stuff I don't think you would need any of that. Just a good 17" wheel with say a ) offset would work.
    I would advise against spacers.

EDIT: meant to say "not doing any hard off road stuff"

Once you go aftermarket rim with a different offset, that is when all bets are off regarding rubbing, regardless of lift or no lift. 33" pizza cutters will fit with oem rims. They will also cause less power loss, front end wear, and you get to keep your mudflaps.

    Wildpeak AT4w are "C".

That's probably the only drawback. Even still, the tires available are really good at that size (255/85/16).
