Hey TCWorld! I'm looking to pick up some new wheels and tires. I just bought a 15 Tacoma AC Sport. Its running 265/65/17, personal opinion, I think it looks a bit weak. I thinking I'm going to go with 265/75/16's on some black wheels. I want the XD enduros but cost is important, does anyone have any recommendations on some black 16s? The rep at DTD recommended 8'' wide wheels. I'm hoping this will also give a better stance. Is this going to extend past the fenders or at least bring me out flush? I'm not lifted or leveled, I think I might level off in the near future.

Also for tires, I'm torn between Duratracs and the ST/Maxx. I live in CO and spend a lot of time in the snow and on the road in general. I don't go offroading much but, love having the option. I'm looking for something thats going to perform well in all seasons +snow. Also looking for something that will be long lasting and decent mpgs. Perfect tire? Let's hope you all can help!!

    Thanks everyone in advance!

Hey McRoy. I'm running the 16X8 F5 in black from Stealth Custom Series, and 265/75/16 Duratracs. I had also considered Method Race Wheels before finding a sweet deal on the SCS wheels.
I also went back and forth on tires before deciding on the Durtracs. Most 265/75/16 tires out there are load range E, which I feel is major overkill for our trucks. The Duratracs come in both load range E and C. I got the C load range.
I got a first gen taco but I'm in Denver also so you're welcome to see them in person if you'd like. Send me a pm if you're interested.

Go with the St maxx, or even the Cooper AT 3 i know its not the aggressive Tyre your looking for but it performs great on road and in snow ice and off road... I have the ST MAXX, and love them,

Duratracs are great in snow, mediocre in soft sand. Load range C is fine for our trucks. Consider the Goodyear Wrangler Authority for a good balance between soft sand and snow traction.

Duratracs have worked well for me on the western slope. I don't know how often you go over the pass in the winter, but the tires really shine there on the snowy/slushy roads.

Off road and on rough dirt and gravel they work well too. A little nosier than some less agressove AT tires, but not bad at all.

I live in Arizona so I can't help with the snow. But so far I like the duratracs. Mine aren't noisy but I do have a 4runner. I have the rated E tires. They handle great in loose gravel and wet roads too.

Thats awesome thanks everyone, I like the insight. Anyone know the life of each tire? I put a lot of miles on my tires and want to have some kind of expectation on the longevity.

Most reviews say the duratracs are hard to balance and in some cases are not actually round. Also, people say they have a honeymoon phase with them. They're great at first but halfway through its life they get super loud and terrible traction because the siping only goes halfway.

I was considering duratracs but am getting coopers installed today. I am getting a skinny Cooper ATW but you should look at the A/T3. They look great and get stellar reviews. If you are worried about being occasionally in show or ice go for the AT3 over the ST Maxx. Those things will not have ice traction unless you stud them.

However if you do go for the ST Maxx, consider doing a 17" so you can get the 255/75r17 in a 6 ply. That's the only thing that had me looking at that tire.
