    Hey All,

Thanks for having me! Chill65 is having a fit trying to replace u-joints. Saw something on youtube about Toyota saying they were non-replaceable. But understand precision 280 joints will work but have to have minimal amount removed from outside surface. Anyone ever done this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've never known them to be non replaceable. If you are talking about opening the ear on the flange than no. I wouldn't do that because there's a very small chance it would still be round after you ground up up.

    Diabetik81,

Thanks for the reply! Not talking about opening the ear on the flange. Was talking about face of the joing where clip goes to keep it from walking. Would you by chance be familiar with removing joints from the cardan (think that's what it's called) assembly. It has two set of joints and hooks up to transmission. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I think what you saw is 'Non-Servicable' - which means....they're sealed bearings. They don't have a grease zerk and can't be greased.

As for the U-joint Caps.....AVOID pulling those off. Keep those on!! Why? There's a gazillion needle bearings in there that can and will spill out all over the floor if you take that cap off.

Before pulling the driveshaft off - Mark the position of driveshaft to the diff. Make sure the ears of the shaft are matched up to the diff. It's hard to explain - but there's phasing/vibes that you can avoid by keeping it aligned as it was before.

    Hey Janster,

Been there with the needles in a prior life. Not a good place to be. Definitely did mark all of the rotatable parts prior to removal. Thanks for the reply!
