Got married over the weekend and we had our guest sign there well wishes to a piece of red cedar. It's a little to heavy to hang on the wall and 6 foot long. Thinking about building a stand to display it in living room. Just looking for some thoughts on what to make.

    Thanks

Use a hangman's noose to hang it in the house, symbolic it is.

I don't see why it couldn't be hung on a wall as long as the hardware is properly mounted to the board and you use the wall studs

Either hang it on a wall or make a coffee table or bench out of it. Anything else is going to look strange as it's fricken' huge. Or make a bar out of it- actually that's the best idea, you are going to need a place to intoxicate yourself heavily now that you are married.

I don't know what the router bit is called, but you could easily cut a few hanging notches in the back. You plunge the bit in, then run it vertically to make a slot.

I've hung several things with this method. Won't come off the wall

When you do get the piece of red cedar attached to your wall, you could hang your Marriage License from it. Where in your home, are you planning on hanging it?

Either hang it in an entrance-way or put it under a piece of glass and make a coffee table out of it.

That'd be the worlds narrowest coffee table. It's like 10" wide.

Wall hanger. In studs. And congratulations.

...I tend to agree w/ wall-hanging it... think it would look more natural, ..building a stand that would "fit" w/ your existing "décor", etc. would probably be quite a bit of work... you could probably get some "z-clip" and hang it on the wall that way, ...securing the z-clip rail to wall studs, and the other piece w/ screws into the back of the slab...
