    Howdy Everyone,

The above taco is a 2004 sr5, TRD off-road 2wd double cab with 57k miles and zero rust (I know it is kind of an odd combo lol)

This truck has been by my side for the past 5 years and it has seen its fair share of rocket launches and West Texas sunsets. I am the second owner of the truck (bought with 18k miles on it) and it has spent its entire life in the desert out of humidity and salt water (zero rust on the truck). The truck has never been in an accident, it is 96% original (I have seriously upgraded the sound system). The truck also still has factory wheels and tires (including the spare). As any driven truck from 2004, it has a few scratches and dings, but nothing bigger than a quarter.

This brings me to the point of the post. I am currently in the market for a gen-4 taco and that means I am going to have to find a good home for this one later this summer. It is going to break my heart to part with this truck, but I am going to need some of the features on the gen-4 here in the coming years.

I want to do a couple of things in this process. First, make sure the truck finds a good home where it will be appreciated for the oddity it is (super low miles and clean condition). Second, I want to get an understanding of what my truck might be worth.

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (I am coming to the experts on this lol)

    Additional pictures of the truck:

I think someone out there would be willing to pay about $12k or so.
But that is a total guess. I’d consider putting it on bring-a-trailer. Those guys seem to go crazy for low mileage tacomas.
    You never know…….

It would do real well in BringATrailer.com . The best way to get an idea is to search Toyota trucks on "BAT".The sold page has a sold price graph that you can get a solid idea of its value. THIS sounds like the type of car I've always preached to my kids to look for. PAST HISTORY and ownership IS EVERYTHING!

Most looking for a Gen1 iin this condition would for sure.

Put it on Bring a Trailer and have someone with experience writing up the info and taking pictures help you. You will probably get more there than anyplace else or trying to sell it by yourself.

If it were a 4WD it would go north of $20k. Not sure what the demand is like for a prerunner but I’d venture at least 15k in that condition and mileage. Put it up on bring a trailer.

OP, nice truck! I'd agree with @TnShooter and say at least $12k. I think selling via BAT, Cars.com or Trader will get you more serious buyers than FB marketplace. Be sure to include money shots (pictures under the hood and of the frame.) We'd love to see those pics here too!

I am guessing you flip a lot of cars and trucks based off of the driveway and garage pictures. :pccoffee: I think you know what you have and its value, I think you’re phishing for a buyer here.

It does have a small spot where the paint has a weird issue, I'm not quite sure what it is. Can only see it when the lighting is just right

In New England people would fight to have this, regardless of 4x4 or not.

I don't know what the 1g had for electronic traction assist but I have driven my 2g in crummy weather many a time here and no issues.

On Bring a Trailer, can one set a reserve price? Maybe try to run it with a crazy high reserve if that's an option and that will tell you the true market value at this moment.

Dunlop and BFG were factory. I don't recall fusion tire being an option. That said, truck definitely needs new tires. It probably needs a ton of other stuff too like belts, hoses, brakes, various fluids and likely a few mechanical parts.

Paint has a ton of swirls too.

I'll start the bidding at $1 Bob.

it probably doesn't need a "ton" of other stuff at all.
And Imagine complaining about a swirl on the hood of a 1st gen.
I think 3g owner is just jelly

I appreciate everyone's concern about the tires, I did actually check and I my best guess is the previous owner actually must have replaced them at some point probably ~10-12 ish years ago. This was not intuitive to me because I bought the truck with 18k miles. The Spare however is still the original tire, with the factory tape over the tire. Anyhow, the tires have plenty of tread and show no signs of cracking, so I will continue to drive on them while the truck is in my ownership lol.
Again sorry for the confusion, thanks MGMDesertTaco for pointing out they probably were not factory

You can check the date code on the tires to find out how old they are. Tires that old will take around $1000 off your potential sales price to factor in the required replacement costs after purchase.
