Need input. Possible discrimination against me from Landlord

You broke the landlord's rules. Comply or move.

 

didn't take it aggressive at all. we are all entitled to opinions man!

I understand this. I will be the first to admit I broke the contract. And I appreciate them even giving me a warning to comply. i am just trying to prod info without pissing them off as to why i was singled out.

 

I'm afraid that you have no case against your landlord, because even though your neighbors have animals your contract still says you can't have pets so you really have nothing to argue about, yes it's unfair but it's in your contract if you fight it you will loose sad to say

Maybe the neighbor's contracts are agreeing to pets? Some places will let you do it for more. Next door they have to pay 200 more per animal.

 

Well talked to the landlord today. She said it is not her decision. She said the upper management was visiting and saw mine in the window and told her she needs to crack down on the pets. In her opinion, she doesn't care that I have em because she knows I pay my rent on time and my apt looks great. So guess they gotta go. I have already found a newly wed couple who is interested in both of them. Gonna miss those domesticated felines...

I would have let them hang at a friends for awhile and gotten better shades BTW if you ever need to get rid of a pet and don't want to abandon it Most chinese resturants will give you a free dinner if you donate a cat,dog,turtle or other small animal.

I am kind of in the same boat. Old landlord was a cool mofo that didn't care what I did (he also bought drugs from my neighbor). Well lease says no pets but I could pay $300 security deposit that I will get back at the end of my lease. Well then I found a cat on the side of the road and kept him. Landlord doesn't know I have him. Well lo and behold I go to pay rent one day and he isn't there anymore! They fired him cause he wasn't doing anything. Owner man sees me walking my dog and asks why I have her and I told him what happened so he goes to the paperwork to see if I paid (and I paid in full) but there is not fucking receipt or nothing! That bastard took my $300. Well the owner man is a pretty cool dude as it turns out and he let me keep my dog cause he knows I am a good tenant. He still doesn't know I have a cat but I feel like I would be fucked if he found out.

Good luck dude I hate to hear that you have to give em up. I dunno if I could do that or not.

 

I'm a landlord myself and I enforce a "no pets" policy. I usually give them a warning first. If they don't abide, cats and dogs make great stew! It's great being asian!

The lease is binding, you have to have known what you were signing. It sucks I know but what is more fun, having a roof over your head or having to play hide and seek with some pets.

 

lucky for me there is a Rice Bowl right down the road that offers an all you can eat rat and cat buffet!

this is why i didn't argue it too much. i acknowledge i broke the rules. sucks, but i would rather have a roof over my head than cats.

 

get pics of other animals and tell him you have them and that should get him to back off and don't talk to neighbors as they will always stab you in the back..like one other said probably someone reported you to him/her
