Someone backed into my taco, and the
body shop is telling me that they can’t
find the LR bed panel. They said there supplier told them that they have been waiting for this item since September 23
does this sound legit? The guy that backed into me his insurance is paying for a rental.. so the body shop asked me if I wanted my truck back until they
could get the panel which they said that they had no idea when they could get it.
Ya reckon State Farm will pay for a rental for 6months or longer? lol

to get the correct answer you should ask SF, random people on a forum will not know

When describing sides of vehicles you typically use driver/passenger. It helps reduce confusion.

Wrong - you must have never worked in the automotive industry - left and right is the correct identification in the US and more importantly globally. No reason for confusion what so ever. Drivers seat facing forward (no matter which side the steering wheel is on).

nah, you can screw up left and right because people reference their perspective regardless of vehicle orientation. DS/PS is intuitive. Glad i could share this with you.

It's not "intuitive" for about 1/3 of the world...

the driver side is the one with the steering wheel. Is it that difficult of a concept?

Dude - I know you have a smug know it all attitude going on right now but think about it. YOUR statement "the driver side is the one with the steering wheel" IS EXACTLY why left and right is the correct way of identifying which side of a vehicle someone is talking about. As an example, in Australia if I asked for a "driver side" taillight I'd get a "right side" taillight and in the US if I asked for a "driver side" taillight I'd get a "left side" one.
As YOU said "is it that difficult of a concept?"

if i was you and had difficulty distinguishing the driver side vs the passenger i would limit myself from shopping in (ROW) foreign markets. They probably dont carry tacoma parts anyway.

As another person who works in the automotive industry, you're still wrong. Left/right, not driver/passenger.

What they should do is have the tail lamp replaced now so that the truck is safe/legal to drive. If they do so, they would not pay for a rental until the part comes in because the truck is otherwise safe and legal to drive with the dent in it. If they won't do that, they should be paying for a rental until the truck is repaired.

Is the damage to the tail light a big deal in this instance? No. But it's still technically not legal to drive, at least in many locales.

I'll avoid pointing out that the bedside is repairable so that the "OMG YOU SHOULDN'T USE BONDO" crowd doesn't drag me into the debate of the ill-informed morons.

Another body shop found one but it was double the cost. But they went the xtra mile and got
SF to pay the added cost so I moved truck to another body shop and they are on it now. They pulled the whole bed off.
