No need to buy anything just disconnect the exhaust behind the Cat.

After your son has meet all the Local and State Police in person the exhaust can be returned to stock.

Unless you live so far away from town no one cares how loud his truck is.

Some lessons need to be learned the hard way it seems to effect us all growing up.

Just go to an exhaust shop and have them cut the muffler out and weld a straight pipe in place, this will be the cheapest option by far..

I get it, my first truck was an 02 TRD OR and I had a flow master Super 44 installed. He’s young and will grow out of it like I did. But for now I vote let him be young :woot: Most of the old heads on here will gripe and complain about this though lol :crapstorm:

I just did not like meeting all the Police in person !

When I was 16 then those days were very different you were expected to exit your vehicle with your paper work and walk to the right side of the police vehicle.

Now you stay in the vehicle with your hands raised in plain sight.

I guess it just depends on where you live. The only tickets I got as a teen were for tint, and still to this day I get a tint ticket once in a while. What bugs me about it is that the cops pulling me over have darker tint than me lol. I just pay it and change nothing.

I have a 2000 Chevy classic K3500 with a 454 running long tube headers, true dual straight, no cats, no mufflers, 8” tips.. It absolutely screams. But I got pulled over and given a tint ticket not too long ago:annoyed:

Part of the learning process is to let him figure out how to do it.

And how to pay for it.

And how to pay for any resulting consequences, such as tickets or returning to stock-ish form.

Nice truck, but I guarantee it would sound better with some decent mufflers on there. Straight pipes, even on a nice v8, never sound good unless you have a turbo or a very heavily built engine. People especially the youngins seem to confuse loud with good sounding, which is not the case.

as to all the let him be young and figure out the consequences answers, I agree to an extent, but that attitude over the years is about to cost us the ability to modify our rigs in any way shape or form. if any of you keep up with what’s going on in the epa these days and with the rpm act and so on you’ll know what I’m talking about. According to the epas latest interpretation of the law, it is illegal to modify production on road vehicles period from the way they came from the factory. Even if you intend to build a competition vehicle that will never see a paved road again. So far It’s really hit the diesel performance industry hard with shops getting raided by armed epa agents, 6 figure fines, threats of jail time, although I believe 6 months house arrest and 5 years probation has been the harshest penalty so far. Most shops are being forced to completely close down costing people their livelihood. This is after many of the shops have went fully emissions legal with tuning and are following all the rules. The epa don’t care. It will eventually affect all aspects of car culture. So while I think it’s good to let young people be young, we gotta be good stewards for the future in trying to educate them before it’s to late and we all lose our ability to customize and personalize our own vehicles. Also make sure your state representatives are supporting the rpm act.

Lol these aren't performance engines. All a straight-pipe would do is make it sound like a vintage boat. Also the smell would be sickening at idle.

How does the girl get in and how do the nast Penn. police handle those wheels/tires. Dont they go outside the bodyline by a couple inches? Sorry to change the subject but Florida has those trucks everywhere, but we have very loose rules. I often wonder in other states how they handle those wide tires

Mine just has the muffler cut off behind the cat. No smells, not super loud driving normally (but can be loud getting into the revs) and simple to do.
