I have a 2003 Tacoma double cab with an auto transmission. When I get on the freeway or I'm driving in the mountains, I have to floor it to merge onto the freeway or get up the mountain. The trans. shifts into low gear and I burn a lot of gas. Is there anything I can do to increase the horsepower without breaking the bank? Thanks

You could re gear but that would break the bank. Supercharger but that would also break the bank. Other than that.... :notsure: Nothin.

Do you have larger tires and or lift? You shouldn't have to floor it to get onto the freeway. Maybe you have a transmission issue?

Welcome to TW! Are you stock? Problem with the first gen autos is it being a 4spd. Cheapest option is to hit the ECT button. Fuel economy will suffer. Otherwise it is gears or supercharger, neither of which are cheap.
