They actually do make a cam kit for 5vz

    http://www.lceperformance.com/5VZ-Street-Performer-Camshaft-Master-Install-Kit-p/1020001.htm

Shit can't find the cam on lce performance but there the link for the install kit. They had one before either the don't have it or I'm just dumb and can't find it

    ...too much shit to list.
I'm familiar with the LCE spring kit...still never seen a cam.
And to my earlier point...the kit alone is a grand.

If you're diligent, you can find new supercharger on CL or egay for under 2 grand...and it's bolt in and takes a couple hours to install rather than tearing down half the motor.

The turbo and supercharger have practically the same gains, obviously the driver in the video wasn't really pushing the truck. But sure man go supercharger

I realize he wasn't getting on it, and it does sound bad ass, IMO S/C is better than turbo, due to no lag.

I have seen a couple Subarus with either turbo or superchargers and they make a hydraulic noise when up-shifting. Can someone please explain why it makes that noise and what is making the noise?

    plasti dipped wheel caps,
not necessarily. correct me if i'm wrong, but he could have the 2.7l i4, which i think is the case if he's saying more or less, not enough power. i had a radiant red '03 prerunner extended cab 3.4l v6 auto w.trd OR pkg and tow pkg, and that had plenty power. well to me at least. i now have another '03 prerunner extended cab but with the 2.7l i4 and again auto trans, but no trd OR pkg, or tow pkg.

881 Front coils, Bilstien 5100's all the way front set to "0" Icon Dynamic's mini leafs in rear, stock tires.
Changing the tire size to a larger tire will take away power, I have the 265/70/16's on mine and there is no power problem on the highway.

Before I would install a super charger or cams I trade it for a V8!

Old post, i know, but still relevant. Mr. twfsa, larger tires take away power in a sense, but mechanically, they're simply changing your final-drive ratio. Simultaneously changing your final drive(s) to match can theoretically negate the change from larger tires. The power loss would only be from the added rubber mass, which isn't insignificant. And regarding the V8: 1st-gen Tacomas only came in 4 and 6 cyls.

This was definitely not a necessary clarification to revive a thread old enough to be in 6th grade.
    Welcome to TW though lol

Ha! Yeah, certainly not necessary, but after hours of thread-cruising on the power topic, it surprised me that no one had put the tire-size/final-drive pieces together, so i popped it in for future readers. Although now i'm guessing that once you do that it puts the old thread at the top of some list and rattles it...? But besides, GoJo hadn't said "TURBO!!!" yet! And speaking of which, I'm about to boost my I4 for long-distance towing, so i'm looking for low-end power over high, so i don't think turbo is what i need. I launched a post about it, fwiw.
