I just need some new front calipers for my 1999 Prerunner. Thinking about also replacing the lines with SS braided lines as well. Recommendations?

Do you have 16" rims or bigger?

If you do then you might want to consider doing the tundra brake upgrade since you are already replace so much.

your local flap will probably have low cost rebuilds...just get the rebuilds and a set of those nifty wagner severe duty pads and go fowards. I suspect that the rotors will probably need turning or replacement. Cheap is good.

Wheelers offroad has a nice set of ss brake hoses. Tundra brakes is a nice upgrade. I have them on my taco and my 4runner. Pictured is the size difference from the oe tacoma compared to the tundra.

Great pics Dave! Nice comparison. Did you just use the existing line there or do you have to modify? I imagine the brakes feel a lot better?

Rotors and pads are new. Just need some calipers and I'm gonna go with stainless lines. The old ones are dry rotting. I have 15s, tundra brakes aren't an option

I purchased ss brake hoses from Wheelers Offroad so no modification was needed. Their hoses come with the correct banjo bolts for the tundra calibers. It's a direct bolt on, I did it on my lunch break here at work. I just had to trim the backing plates a little to clear the calibers. Big difference in the stopping power. My main reason for this upgrade is I tow a 17ft. Fiberglass camper, and they look nice looking thru my SCS F5 wheels. These calibers clear the stock 16" TRD alloys also, but as previously mentioned not 15's.

Have you noticed much of a difference in pedal travel between the stock brakes and the tundra brakes? I've read several reviews where some people say that after the tundra upgrade they experience more pedal travel.

I did this upgrade to my Tacoma and my 00 4runner and on both trucks the pedal travel is about the same. I do keep my rear brakes adjusted, I adjust them every other oil change when I rotate my tires. My Tacoma has the 231's and my runner has the 199's. I've read that too but for me I haven't had any negative issues on either truck.

I have the entire stock front brake assembly from my 02 6 lug off the truck and for sale.

Calipers, pads and rotors along with steel lines.

Let me know as I can separate the kit and sell just the calipers.

    You pay shipping.

Fully functional, could use a good cleaning.

I did the tundra brake upgrade today. I do notice more travel in the pedal. The first depression of the pedal is deep and spongey and the 2nd,2rd, etc is much firmer. Not sure why.

Toyota has self adjusting rear brakes. If you use your ebrake when you park like it's designed for it will keep them adjusted for you

Calipers have 200k but show no sign of issues and worked perfectly.

    The rotors has 40k

    Pads have 4k.

Only reason I Pulled them off the truck was my upgrade to tundra brakes.

I will let the entire lot of stuff go cheap as its just sitting in the garage boxed ready to move.

When i rotate my tires i just give the adjuster a couple of clicks, i usually spray the rear brakes with some brake cleaner too. Only takes a couple minutes since the wheels are off anyway.

I was going to do that but didn't want to buy junk. I ordered drums from RockAuto once and the things were square inside
