I have Falken Wildpeaks on my 2020 Tacoma TRD 4x4. They have 25,000 miles on them and I am frustrated with the road noise. It started once they got to about 22,000 and has gotten worse. My truck has 50,000 miles on it and the stock tires were quiet. With 24,000 miles on my truck, I had a flat that could not be repaired so I just bought a new set of the Falkens. Whatever tire I get, I will get at Sams Club since I have over a $1000 in club cash so the tires won't cost me anything. Part of me would like to get the Michelin LTX M/S2 but I am afraid I won't like the look of a non-aggressive tire. I don't do any off-road driving but I hunt a lot in western Kansas on our sand roads with are terrible when wet. The Cooper Discover Road + Trail have good reviews. Any tire suggestions?

Here's the kicker you can't have an agressive looking tread without adding road noise and regardless of how you rotate them that noise will increase with wear. So you have to choose to accept the quieter better ride or getting the off road look.

It really looks like the ltx is the tire that best fits your use.

I know that an AT tire will be noisy but at 60 years old and having AT tires my entire life, I haven't had any with road noise like this. I also have never owned a mid size truck. Noise was never a problem on a full size truck for me so didn't know if for some reason it was more amplified on the smaller Tacoma. There was no noticeable road noise with the stock Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure that came on it but Sams doesn't offer that tire.

I had Michelin LTX M/S on a SUV and they were great. I'm the kind of person that would rather have jeans that fit and feel great rather than having the latest fashion or a "cool look".

I had a set of Toyo AT III Open Country in standard ass size put on my 2017 SR5 3.5L V6 and couldn't be happier with them. It's a bone stock SR5, and I went with the non LT regular old passenger style and kept the original p245/75/r16. I've got about 4k miles on them, about to hit the first rotation here soon and I still average 22 in the city and 25+ on the hwy. Winters can be Nasty here in WV, especially the Northern part, add in all the rain and seasonal changes and they've been Fantastic so far. I don't really off road, but that couple times we've went off the dirt road, and up the side of a hill/mountain trail hunting and or fishing, they've done Great. No issues at all.

did you rotate tires every 5k?
they may be noisy cuz theyre cupped & didnt rotate as you should, driving the hard, fast, into turns, etc, doesnt help....
Dont see fallers getting noisy in that short period, theyre a great tire if you give them the love every tire needs.

Sure its tire noise & not a noisy wheel bearing maybe?
If you dont rotate, ide lean toward the tire too...

Give it time…I like the ATIIIs and have had a few sets but the SLs never last long. 25-30k max for most of them.

Depends on how 'aggressive' a look you're going for, but I'm currently looking at new shoes and deciding between the Nokian nAT's and Milestar Patagonia A/T pro. The latter I believe Wally world carries.

AT3 they look to be wearing well. Last oil change and rotation was at 45,000 the tread depth was 7/32's. I am at 49,200 now and I would imagine 5 or 6/32.

IMG_0080.png Here’s some tires that I’ve had a couple sets of and think they are awesome . Here is a copy of a recent post I made about them. They are Terra Trac AT X-Venture, Check them out , you’ll like them.
    My post
They are the Hercules TerraTrac AT X-Venture made by Cooper. Between my Tundra and my Taco I’m now on my 4th set. Just got the 4th set a couple months ago. They have a 60,000 mile warranty and a 2 year road hazards warranty. You ruin a tire within 2 years for any reason, it’s replaced free. They are all season tires with the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake certification. I’ve driven them in everything but sand.
    My experience -
Pavement - quiet , very quiet and excellent grip, traction.
Rain, wet pavement- great traction, never any hydroplaning. They have extra siping which really improves handling on wet paverment.
Snow - 3PMS Certification, I’ve driven in snow in the Sierras, Nevada, Utah, Montana and Idaho, performed well, no problems, never needed to chain up.
Off Road - I spend a lot of time off road hunting and fishing, dirt and gravel forest roads, rough rutted logging roads, steep rocky 4wd roads, never a problem. They get me there and back 100% of the time.
You can probably find these cheaper per tire than the tires you are considering.
If they weren’t outstanding tires I wouldn’t be on my 4th set.

My Duratracs where noisy as they got older, but they are almost as aggressive as a M/T tire. Best damn tires I ever had.

Same, on my third set since owning the truck with just over 64k on the current ones. Mine are still pretty quiet for having that many miles, but I'm religious about having them rotated and rebalanced every 5k or so. Only reason I'm shopping is that the 285/70's jumped up to E load and are pushing 60 lbs with the recent redesign.

I rented a Tacoma with worn Toyo AT 3s (maybe 6/32" of tread left), and I thought the road noise was quite bad.

An option out of left field: there a new Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT that's supposed to be better than leading AT tires in almost every way. It's not widely available yet.

    https://youtu.be/ZxsutcbnJl4

I know KO2s are quiet when new. Not sure how they are when worn. I would expect KO3s to be similar or better. Although I think KO3s are the ones where they had to intentionally add some noise because they made them too quiet, and they didn't sound aggressive enough. Which is frustrating because of prefer silence.

I got the Michelin LTX M/S2 put on a couple of months ago without any regrets. They look good to me and are a good truck tire.
