My 97 V6 with 176k on it has a slight miss when it is floored above 3k rpm. I bought some new plugs to learn that the wires and plugs are still the originals. The wires were stamped 1996.

I noticed the passenger side has 3 coil packs and each pack has a wire that goes to the drivers side. While I was pulling off the drivers side one of the metal pieces inside of the wire that clips over the end of the spark plug broke out. Should I just replace the 3 whole wires coming from the coil packs and the ends that snap onto the plugs or should I do something with the passenger side too?

I was in a pinch to move the truck so I had to pick up some spark plug wires from pepboys until the OEM ones arrived. After putting in the new OEM plugs from the dealer and the pepboys prostart cables the truck runs really rough. I swapped on 2 (3rd was ripped) of the original 176k mile wires and it did run better so I am hoping it's just that the truck doesn't like the cheap wires.

Do you know who the manufacturer of the OEM wires is? Is it Denso?

I actually traced the denso's back to the denso part number and picked up a brand new set on amazon for $35
