So the slamming in the rear causes you to roll forward?

    WTF!?

So that’s the damage I’m looking at or ?

Are you saying you cut the end off by the friction pad?

Dakar’s are pretty crappy leaf springs but for the price they do flex.5338F11E-72B8-443A-8DDC-13D1ED6F39DC.jpg

    Yes.

I feel it could be long bed related. Just not as nimble as the short bed. I like my bed tho...

Damn bro! And you have the AG hangers. Jealous

I would rather get a new leaf pack than break out the wheel cutter. I’m going to beat the thing until I need a new pack anyways

I wonder if a new clamp could be fabbed to just hold those end leafs together?

Some quick observations lead me to suspect your up travel has been eroded... and that is at least part of your problem. The extra thick spring pack, the U bolt flip, and bump stop all appear to eat considerably into what was once free area with the stock leaf pack and bump. Also, better shock valving and a more progressive bump should be in the solution.

Thank you much. I agree spring pack height, u bolt flip, and bump stop are taller. This does limit up travel. Lifting over 2" should negate this somewhat.

I might remove the u bolt flip and bump stop, then install the originals. I am also thinking of lifting higher and stiffening the spring rate by adding another leaf (EL46xl). Essentially a Dakar heavy pack.

    Update

Had some fun with the angle grinder today. Cut the u bolts shorter. Still bottoming out same as b4. 20190922_153938.jpg 20190922_154939.jpg 20190922_155751.jpg

This may be annoying to do but I would swap the stock shackles, put the OEM u bolts on and run without that bump and see how it performs.

Is this a new issue? I was bottoming my medium dakars with just an aluminum canopy, which isn't the +660lbs suggested to run the heavy pack. They didn't do that when new but did within six months. They were found to be out of spec and replaced under warranty.

Interesting. Can you please provide more details on how you got them tested and replaced?

    Update 2

Busted out the angle grinder and drill. Fabricated stock bumps to bolt onto u-bolt flip plate. Hack job but it was getting dark.

Problem solved for me. Fixed my easy bottoming out. Stock bumpstops are 1.5 inches shorter.

Thank you all for the help and ideas.

You have to remove the leaf pack and measure the free camber
