2021 TRD OR DCSB 4x4. Just got:
    -Dobinsons IMS lift kit (3”)
    -SEMA Pro wheels
    -285/70/17 Maxxis RAZR tires

Up next on the Christmas list is a set of rock sliders that double as steps or steps that double as rock sliders, whatever.

I really like Apex and RSG’s sliders, C4 and a few others but wanted TW’s opinion before I go buying.

The truck is a daily driver, goes hunting and fishing often. Mother in law rides in it a lot (she likes fishing) she already has trouble getting in the truck.

Would prefer something light, offers full rocker protection and has a bump out. Has to function as a step as that will be its use 95% of the time.

    Definitely doable.

    Definitely not.

You'll have to pick your own brand/style/price, but at least I cut your shopping options way down.

And really. Get the truck all hard looking with lift/wheels/tires and put steps on it? Nah. Sliders are the only answer.

    Sliders that double as steps..

get any 0 degree slider. Get the top filler plates.
Maybe stay away from caliraised sliders. They hug too close and may not be a viable option.

choose quickly as the Black Friday deals are ending. Tons of companies are on sale right now!

Consider the ones you like that are nearest to you. Freight charges aren't cheap

$280 for my cbi bed rack.
I think sliders are similar to that price.
I know c4 has free shipping to your nearest freight hub and then you pick up from the terminal…
otherwise you pay freight to your front door.

I'm sold on Westcott Design. They offer a 0 degree slider with top plates that will get you the best of both worlds you're looking for.

CBI sliders depending on what you want, bare, coated, LB, etc... are around a 900-1200
Might find some cheaper, maybe, sales going on now!!!
But definitely well worth it and have multiple uses!!!

Don’t get top plate unless you have to. Kids can step on tubes right?

The top plate traps mud. Hard to get it out. And the paint can fail fast under there. It needs to be a really great paint job, and there are really tight spots to get paint into due to the top plate. Also getting paint onto the edges of the top plate. If you can get a good paint job and then spray CRC marine coating on top of the paint under there then that helps with the top plate problem underneath. It can be a hassle so watch out for rust.

I have steps but don't off road. Steps would probably be detrimental as they hang lower and lessen ground clearance. I have old hips for being such a handsome, charming and wonderful human, so steps work for me...:amen:

I just did the RCI's with top plate. Not doing any serious off roading , but learned how easy steps are to getting hung up on crap. Had some of that on previous vehicles so went with a slider with plates to prevent that. I will say it's not the " best" step , but does work as one.

Echoing this. I have 15degree sliders and a couple strips of grip tape by the doors is plenty for the kids to use as a step.
