Hey everyone... 1st post here so thanks for humoring me. I have been on T4R.ORG since 2012 and recently sold my slightly modified 4th Gen T4R. I am now in the market for a 3rd Gen Tacoma and would like some advice with my 3rd Gen Tacoma purchase.

(Shot of my 4th Gen before I sold it in late 2014)

I have been hunting down a 3rd Gen Tacoma and have come across a 2016 Double Cab Sport that I am interested in. It is a 2016 Tacoma DBL Cab Sport AT with 4WD. It has 15,000 miles on the odometer, sunroof, heated seats, backup camera, blind spot monitoring, reverse sensing system, two proximity keys with integrated keyless entry, black interior with orange contrast stitching (which I love), & tonneau bed cover included.

I went and test drove the vehicle the other day and it is pretty much everything I want. I could make a case for wanting a TRD Off-Road, but feel it will be easier to replicate the features the Off-Road brings to the table in Suspension & Tires vs. adding the features the Sport has like sunroof, body color features I like, etc. I understand about the different decent angle and have done alot of research on the differences, but I don't feel as if it is enough to warrant the Off-Road instead of the Sport.

The dealer wants $32,648 so it looks like i'll get out around $33,000 after ttl. Not that it is relevant, but I will be putting down around 10k and will be able to lock down 1.49% (60 months, but plan to have it paid in around 48) through USAA Car Buying service. Dealer won't budge on the price cause they offer a "No Hassle pricing" claiming they don't negotiate because they price so competitively.

Is this a good enough deal to where I would be crazy not to pull the trigger if it is exactly what I want or should I slow play it a little and risk someone else buying.

This is a vivid reminder of how much I love buying cars. :(

Welcome to TW! I would run the vin thru toyota's website to get service records, make sure it isn't a problem child truck. Check for recalls too, there are now 2 recalls active. Check true car for pricing, as well as kbb. Dealers aren't willing to budge and if its higher in price than what you're willing to pay, walk. There's always more trucks to find if this one doesnt work out. Find what you like and are willing to pay for, good luck!

New the vehicle is only a few K more (street price), seems that would be a better "deal". But no I wouldn't say that was a deal worth jumping on, it's a deal worth seriously thinking about, and if you loose it, it's certainly not worth kicking your self over.

Probably could get a new one for $35k with those same options with no miles and don't have to worry about buying somebody else problems with a late model used one.

It's hard to justify buying a late model Tacoma that is only a year or two old because they are so close in price for what you can negotiate the price on a new one.

That probably has 15k on the brakes and tires. There's a hole list of other services your that much closer to have to do sooner than if you bought a new one. Who knows what the original owner did with that. Buy new, just my 2 cents. Good Luck!

I'd try and get another $2k off, new isn't much more than that if you shop around.

Thats not a bad price, not a great one either. Take that truck and email the different dealers. Ask how close they can get to that price with a new one. You would be surprised how close the new ones are to that price.

OP I'd go new for that little of a price difference. Do a search for new Tacos in your area, see whats out there.

Also you don't get crawl control or a rear locker with the Sport you get that with the Off Road and if you get the Premium and tech package you get all the other goodies you want. The Sport is a profit machine for Toyota as it costs the same as an OR but has far less expensive equipment.

Agreed. I played the game of trying to find a low mile, year or two old taco. I ended up with a new one because the price difference wasn't really that far off. Plus the seat hadn't been farted on. Except for the assembly line workers at the plant

I bought a brand new AC with 2 miles on the clock for about $700 less than what you're wanting to buy a used one for. Great truck, bad salesman.

    I'd walk.
