I just got my new set of Duratrac RT. OE size of 265/70r16 and I'm going from 111T weight rating on my old Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo 2.
The new Duratracs are XL load rating. I've never owned a stiffer/higher load rated tire, let alone on a smaller pickup like this DC Tacoma.
My question is, should I expect a huge difference in ride quality between the 2 tires? I'll be doing the chalk test first and foremost, and playing/adjusting the pressure from there.

    Everybody's experience? Opinions? Advice?

    Thanks

I would imagine you are going to notice a difference in ride and noise with these but you won't know until you try them out. Look at those treads! Great looking tire.

    Post some pics for sure.

Yesh the shoulder lugs are a bit more aggressive than I expected. All the sipes are beautiful. I'm very very happy with them, looks wise. And supposedly that are better on road and more road mannered than the regular Duratracs.
I will surely post some pics tomorrow after I'm done getting them mounted and roadforce balance.

IMHO - The whole tire industry needs to calm down and quit selling over-load-rated tires to Mid Size Truck Guys unless they are requested.
Your truck will never handle the load that these can be taken to and you will be sacrificing ride quality and MPG to get that capability that you will never use.

The only difference is that the side walls are more puncture resistant - true. But tires these days aren't as susceptible as they used to be to that and in many cases the increase in puncture resistance is minimal.

It's like my buddy that wants a pistol in 10MM+P because it has "more" stopping power than a 10MM for home defense. Really?

10mm +p loads aren't even SAAMI spec. So he's not even going to find a manufacturer making a pistol of such. There are mild loads and then there are hotter loads for 10mm platforms. There's no legitimate data for +p rounds in that caliber, unless hand loading and constructing your own nuclear hot level loads. He should just get a Glock 20 and call it good. Or something in .44mag. Lol.
But I agree, there are no reasons for tire manufacturers to make these big weight rated tired for our little trucks. I feel like it just requires more material to make them, so then they can ask more for the price. It's ridiculous. I had a hard time finding any B-C rated in the tires I was actually looking for. It was pissing me off.
