i looked up the dog parks, theres a couple not too far from me. $5/day per dog. I am probably going to get a yearly pass for 120 bucks though. I am a block from county limits so I might be able to convince them that I am a resident and it would only be $44 then! Theres 4 different fenced in parks. I am gonna throw the idea out to her...we can't exactly go eating with the dogs then :D "Stuck" at my house afterwards then.

There's a dog park out here that you have to pay 50/year to access... sucks... but we pay for it as it's a nice park...

I was thinking the same thing......
I would think that women & men on those sites are looking for better quality relationships and are more serious about how they approach things.

Hell - I met my husband through the computer. It was a local internet group of people that I just started hanging out with. This was before the internet even existed.

RoyB - did you try searching Google?
"Free things to do in Chicago"
    http://www.free-attractions.com/chicago.htm
    http://www.thelocaltourist.com/cities/chicago/free-things-do-chicago
    http://www.fodors.com/news/story_2094.html

or even "Cheap things to do in Chicago"
    http://www.wolfstad.com/2006/01/top-10-budget-things-to-do-in-chicago/

    Go for a cruise somewhere.
Pack a picnic lunch and go to a park & eat
Watch a movie & cook her dinner
    Take her offroading
Any race-tracks near your house? Anything going on there?
Do you play any sports? Tennis, raquetball etc ? Does she play?
Any sports or automotive shows gonig on?
Go to a game room and play some video games (You got a 'Dave & Busters' out your way?)
Go test drive some cars together for the hell of it....
    Visit some friends
Volunteer to help the community together (habitat for humanity, soup kitchen, boy/girls clubs ????)
Go to the hospital and visit some children with rare and life threatening diseases
Go downtown and give a homeless guy a meal

Sorry, just pulling this stuff outta my ass....:p

ive done it a couple times before, nothing too interesting out there. met some great girls before it got to be "the thing to do". now it seems like people join it cause they are curious and arent really into it. I am back on it now because i was bored and enjoy meeting new people. however, that also means quite a few new first and second dates $$$

    ;)

some of the problem is I don't live IN the city. About 30 mins away. The other problem is that anything in the city is NOT free because you have to pay 20 bucks just to park downtown. It's a total scam with the parking now. The meters have been sold to a private company who has now raised the prices as well....soon the parking garages will go up as well I bet.

As for searching for "free things to do in buffalo grove" I came up with one lol. There's apparently a candy factory here that has tours. I will look into that. $2 on m-f and free on saturdays. There is also a $2 dollar theater that I keep hearing about that I need to locate.

found a couple town musueums nearby that are only a couple bucks to visit as well. anything with performing arts costs like 40 bucks a ticket

I met my bf through a forum ;). We were both members on a local offroading site, so we ended up in the same places often and hanging out with the same people, doing the same thing. I didn't know him for the next guy for an entire year though, then one trip we just hit it off together and have been with each other ever since .
Kind of like a dating site...same interests is the most important thing.

i know. ive met a couple people from local car boards and clubs, but no one I was really interested in dating though. I wish there was more offroading around here :( not too many girls are into forums around these parts, or at least cars/trucks.

Glad I live in Vegas :drunk:.
Lake is 10 mins away, mountains all around the outside of the town from 30mins to 1 hour away, temps are usually reasonable all year round, the strip is in the middle of everything, 99% of things are open 24hrs, lots of free shows and attractions along with the cheap and very expensive ones, something different to do every night/day, any type of food you could think of is available, lots of shopping, dog parks are free......

I couldn't handle living in a small town or away from everything. I'm out of ideas for ya :(. Move to a better city??

yea, it kinda blows out here. free+chicago do NOT go together. There might be things to do IN the city that don't cost a whole lot, but like i said, you still have to pay parking and then if you want to eat, food is litereally double what it is in the suburbs. want to buy anything in the city? Heres a little clip from wiki
the cost of living is so high in the city that they have to pass it onto the consumers. a beer IN THE CITY is usually 4-5 bucks for a miller lite. so...even if you do find somthing to do that is cheap/free, you end up losing it on parking and food expenses.

Plus the fact that everything shuts down for 6 months outa the year doesn't help matters either. thats part of the reason its so hard to meet people here imo. you are indoors most of the time and even when you aren't, there's stll not a whole lot to do. everyone is pissed off from the crappy weather and in a generally bad mood ;)

I want to move to cali, but funds arent allowing now, probably not for a while :(

Oh yea, and can't forget tolls. I pay 40-50 bucks in commuting tolls a month depending on where I am working. This state are a bunch of crooks  It's impossible to get ahead.

You need a vacation....but those aren't cheap. Find a cheap flight to Vegas, a cheap room ($20/night), go to all the free attractions, alcohol is cheap if you find the deals, food is probably the most expensive thing, but can still get it cheap and parking is free most everywhere. Even guided tours and some shows are cheap. So when you find a nice girl and want to take a vacation...you can even get married cheap at the drive thru with Elvis :D.

Well, figures. Another FLAKE. This broad calls me up and we talk for 2 weeks on the phone. We go out on a date, it goes well. She says she wants to go out again. We talk more on the phone and have a date on saturday. She sends me a text friday night saying she's not too far away on a job interview as a bartender. I text back saying if she's bored we can get together if she wants. Texts go back and forth a little and at 9:00 she says she's just going to go home. OK, no big deal.

Throw a text at her around noon (one of those people that rather text than talk, i hate that) asking if we are still on for today. She sends one back that she didn't get home until 2 and is hanging out with her brother and dad and not sure if she will get around to hanging out with me today. It's freakin noon for christs sake.

Seriously, what is wrong with women around here? How does going home at 9 turn into getting home at 2? Why would you continue to talk to someone for almost 3 weeks and plan a second date if you aren't interested? Why bail last minute on a date with some lame excuse?

I don't get it. My finances are in order, I am decent looking, respectful, don't smell, don't get angry, give them space....but I get stepped on again and again. I swear these girls like guys that are assholes to them. I'm fed up with these hoe-bags.

    Relax.... perhaps you're just over-reacting?

Pick up the phone and talk to her. Texting is just stupid especially for a new date/relationship.

Perhaps you're over-reacting? Maybe her Dad & Brother visited unexpectedly and they don't see eachother very often. No offense to you - but family should come first.

Obviously, she's a busy person. Regardless if she can make the time or not - don't always assume she's blowing you off on purpse. Believe me, if a girl isn't interested in you, she'll ignore your text messages completely.

Give it some time - call her back and see what's up. Atleast you can have a friend out of it.

I agree about texting and hate it when you are trying to have a convo. I've called her a couple times before with no answer and had her reply with a text.

Over-reacting? How's it over-reacting when you make plans with someone and then they come up with a lame excuse 8 hours before you are supposed to hang out? I agree family comes first...but she lives about 5 houses away from her dad and she sees him often.

If she was really interested she would have said sorry I can't make it, family stuff came up, or at least confirmed later on that she was busy. Worst case, ask to reschedule for another day. It's pretty rude to just blow someone off with no warning like that and have no alternate solution, like, how about another night....or...we will play it by ear and see what time I get done, etc.

Also kinda odd that she says shes going home at 9 and then in the morning she says she didn't get home until 2?? Where did those 5 hours go? Don't get me wrong, I don't really care, but why even say that in the first place? That's a blatant lie imo.

I am the type of person to hold true to my word. If I say I am going to be somewhere, I will. If I say I am gonna do something, I will. I had a date one time (first date) at like 8pm on a saturday. It was 7pm and I had lost track of time working on my second house in Wisconsin (about an hour away). I kept her up to date of my situation and guess what, still made the date, about 15 mins late. I was exhausted and dirty and could easily had canceled...but that's not who I am.

Too many people think it's just ok to break plans and promises because they feel like it. Sorry, that's not someone I will respect. It's selfish for lack of a better word.

Guess what, no follow up text today saying she was sorry or to reschedule. I respect your opinion Janster, but I believe you are wrong. It's all in the words. Leaving it like she did was pretty clear imo. Like I said before, midwestern girls are selfish and only care for themselves.

You may think I am over-reacting, I am just laughing at how dumb these girls are. They all say they want to be in a relationship, but have no idea what that means. I see why divorce rate is so high, one little problem and then it's drop each other like a bad habit.

Case-in-point. The last girl was dating we were serious at the 2 month mark. She had a kid, but didn't want us to be alone with the kid around. I saw the kid multiple times around our friends and she was even at my house a couple times. I only got to see the mom once every other friday alone....every other time it was around friends to not "screw up the kid" She's the one that told ME she wanted to get serious. Well, I told her I was not happy with only seeing her once every couple weeks. Instead of coming up with a solution she said she didn't know what to tell me. I don't get it. She wanted to be serious, yet had no idea what it meant.
