Hey everyone I lookin to upgrade my front springs. I will eventually like a bumper up front also. I'm currently running Billy 5100's all around with a toytech AAL in the rear. Are 884's the way to go. Set clips to 0" and let the springs do the work. Idk help.

If you are going to install a bumper you will likely want to step up to 886's depending on steel v. aluminum, full hoop, winch, etc. 884's won't be a good choice from what I've read though.

I just put on 884 with 5100's set at 0, finished Thursday. I got 3.25" lift. I'm sure it will settle a bit. I hope.

I would say yes. I had 5100's at .85 and then added a steel bumper. The ride was a little harsh. Put on 884's set at 0 and a new set of 5100's. The ride is much better. It does sit higher than before, but I leveled it out with my Ride Rites in the back. Just make sure to get a spacer for Taco Lean.

OME 884’s ,Dakar hd’s, Jba uca, lce header, 4.88’s, Arb locker , j shift tcase-T4R, arb bumper, leer topper, 3500w inverter, mad wife, scratched paint, skid plates, snorkelerer, led flush mount reverse lights, etc..
OP do NOT run 886’s if you have a regular cab unless you love changing cv boots. I have an arb bumper, steel ifs skid, and lca skies with 884’s and I’m right at 2” of lift. Run 885’s max on a single cab.

I ran 886’s at first on my truck and immediately swapped them out. I had like over 4” of lift and it felt like riding on bricks... with all my weight.

884s will give you 2" lift, if you want a bumper, you'll need the 886s which are a different spring rate. 884s won't give you much lift if any with a bumper.

3.25" is a lot for 884s and 5100s set to 0. Are you sure you didn't install the spring perches upside down? Its something that goes overlooked pretty often

Pretty sure it's right. Kind of shaped like a bell, wide side down to capture the ring around the shock body. Smaller part goes up into the spring just a about an inch or so. Marie's chart says I should get about 2.25" so I hoping 1" of of settle.

Thanks for making me aware of a common issue, something to look for.

Thanks for the insights. The bumper would have to be some time after, like yearish. Just don't want to be that guy that goofs then needs to buy more crap later on.

I was that guy that goofed. I went through your exact scenario and made the wrong choice. Seriously don’t put 886’s on a single cab.

Cab size and motor configurations make pretty big differences with OME coils. You’re about right for 884’s. 885’s would put you at 2.5-3”
