sound like tranny went out not tranfer since ur truck is not moving in the vid. at idle ur tranfer case doesnt do anything unless ur moving, tranny while at idle torque converter still rotates for fluid to move around, cool ect (i could be wrong though) but like davestaco said remove pan and see what comes out.

Sounds like you spun the gears in the tranny.
Your torque converter could have blew to pieces and thats what your hearing inside there though also.

    Or that!

Might have been a torque converter..my friends POS 90' Blazer S10 was doing the same thing..not as horrendous but it was a grinding/rattling noise...and his truck was shifting hard as fuck. He ended up dropping the tranny and putting a new torque converter in..works great now!

So it could have been possible your torque converter just blew up into pieces and it's rattling around inside.

Ya know, I hadn't really considered that, you're the 2nd person that mentioned the converter that'd be awesome if thats all it is, a couple hundred as opposed to a couple thousand

you KNOW what you can do with that comment youngman !!!!:D

Someone had to say it. But in all seriousness I really believe it is your torque converter, cause you said you where in park, so your tranny shouldn't be engaged and I would think that it would only be the torque converter would be spinning/ throwing chunks of it's self around.

Wait... if it is the Transmission... why not get a used one instead of rebuilding it? It would most likely be much cheaper than the 4k you getting quoted...

Seeing that you a Gen 1 it would be under 1k easy...

ok man from a mechanics stand point. id drop the pan see if theres anything that shouldnt be in the pan lol.... if all looks good i also have another idea.. throw the pan back up put fluid in it.... wonder if u stripped the input shaft to the tcase. the shafdt that connects the t case to the trans output. could def make a crazy sound like this and rend the truck immovable.
