So I installed a Toytec lift with a diff drop. I was changing oil today and noticed CV's looked like this. I know its not good but how bad is it?

I wiped them down to see under the grime and I can barely see a "ridge" that looks like the boot slips into to keep it in place. Boots are not torn and the suspension was at full droop when I did the inspection. I'm hoping that they are in the proper position when I put the truck down. Thoughts?

Also after installing the lift I now get some "Pops" and "Thunks" when I back out of the garage and then again when I change direction and roll forward. Not all the time but it still bothers me. I do have one torn boot on an upper ball joint that I did during install so I am going to replace those soon. But is it ball joints or something else. I loosened the sway bar but I double checked the mounts today just to be sure and it is tight. Thoughts?

Check the lower ball joints and uppers for movement might be old and worn.

As for the cv boots look worn as well but are still holding up seen allot worse just keep an eye on them.

Thanks that's what I was thinking. Boots are original but not torn. I have some Xmas money and may go for UCA's. Only question is uniball or ball joint....

CVs don't look too bad, I'd just keep an eye on them.

Thuds and clunks are usually ball joints first, control arm bushings second. Inspect all and check for play.

I've have Camburg uniball UCAs for years, they work great.

lol i drove around for a long time with a blown CV. You should be fine. Replace it out once it starts making noise. I drove around for months with it in that condition.
