so i took it to a shop to have a levelling kit installed and put some wheels and tires on it.. )17" fuel w/ 33x12.50r17 nitto grabbers -- anywho, the shop i took it too at first told me they had to wait on new lugnuts to come because their supplier sent the wrong ones with the wheels and they gave me my truck back that night cuz i needed it and warned me the alignment was going to be off because they installed the levelling kit and that my dash lights were going to be on.

next day i took it back.. they got the wheels on there but still couldnt get the alignment done because they apparently outsource that and the shop they take it to was busy. they gave it back to me again, alignment all wonky dash lights still on. -- they even said they would refund the money i paid for the alignment if i wanted to go ahead and take it elsewhere to get the alignment done.

the third day i was growing tired of this back and forth game with the shop, so i took it to the dealership. dealership does my alignment.. does a 0 point calibration.. alignment is fixed ALL MY DASH LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. shop says bring it back to them.

take it back to them, they say it just needs the alignment to fix it, i explain that i just left the dealership and had my alignment done and all my lights are still on.

they basically have no idea how to fix this issue.. dealership is telling me i need to have everything recalibrated and etc.. another $869.. how tf does this happen from just installing a levelling kit? or im open to suggestions as to what i could do to correct this issue?? -- yes, i have disconnected the battery for 30 minutes.

    Something's missing here.

Why leave the dealership after an alignment and calibration if all the lights are on?

What would you be charged 'another' (your words) $869 for? What did you pay $869 for the first time?

    Yeah.
Pretty sure it will need to be recalibrated. The reference points for those systems have moved outside of what it was calibrated for due to the leveling kit (there are cameras and sensors that work together). If it hasn't gone off after driving it for a while, it is unable to correct itself.

EDIT: And an alignment doesn't include sensor calibration and doesn't have anything to do with those systems.

i left the dealership afterwards because i needed to get to work. they said it would take 6 hours to do the calibration so i made an appointment for next thursday to do it. and no, i did not mean 'another $869' i should have worded it 'an additional $869' to what i paid for the alignment.

no, i know the alignment doesn't include the sensor calibration.. i just havent seen or heard of anyone else having this issue when putting a levelling kit on the new 24's. i see everywhere people putting 33's and 35's on there with levelling kits and not having this issue pop up. i mean, im going to pay for the recalibration of the sensors in hopes that corrects the problem.. i just didnt see anything of this sort pop up when i was researching upgrading my tires/wheels on it.

Given how new this is and there are tons of new safety systems, including electric steering rack that adds even more complexity to VSC and alignment, your only option is dealer at this time to troubleshoot. Check if everything is plugged in underneath maybe?

Lesson for next time, either verify on paper that it will be a one day job or get a rental. Insisting on driving it mid-install, and then mid-repair is why the truck is unhappy.

I’m guessing something got damaged while installing the leveling kit . I would have the first shop check everything. If everything checks out then calibration is the next step .

i didnt insist on driving it mid-install.. they offered it back to me so i could get home from work.. (the shop is next to my work) and bring it back first thing the following morning when going to work.. which is what i did.

Seems odd. I just had my leveling kit installed and new 33" tires put on a week later. Zero issues for me. Check to see if there are any pinched wires anywhere just to be safe.:quickdraw:

It does not happen to all trucks, same get the codes, some dont.
Cple things I learned Fri from researching the 3rd gen similar issues..
1 -shop did not disconnect the battery during install, ecu senses the change in angles, needs to be recalibrated
2- key fob left in proximity and ecu could sense it, same as above
Only a zero point calibration by the dealer will correct the sensors.

Curious, was your steering wheel no longer centered also?

ya.. thats my guess.. the shop did look it over.. said they knew someone at another shop that could get em off.. i let em take the truck there and they brought it back to me with the lights on and just shook their head and said something must be different about the 24's. -- but yes, it seems im going to pay for the calibration so i can get it back to normal.

    1. cant say as i wasnt there to see.. but good to know..
    2. could be possible as well.
    3. i did a zero point calibration when the alignment was done. lights are still on.

and correct.. the steering whell was no longer centered when i got it back from the shop.. its centered now that the dealership had it and re-aligned it.

First shop sounds unqualified/ill-equipped to have done this work in the first place.
