image.jpg Can't find my test light and I'm deep into this project. I'm hooking up my spot lights to come on with my brights.

    I have the following wires:

    Red/Blue Stripe
    Red/Green Stripe
Red/White Stripe (could be yellow, it's a little dirty)

Also, it's on the drivers side if that helps.

white is always for ground on our trucks

no need to overthink things, just get a scrap wire and touch 12v + to one of the side pins to see which is high and which is low beam, then you know

    Are you using a relay?

Not sure how you are planning to wire the spot lites, but you should consult a wiring diagram for your specific truck before splicing into the harness.

According to my 1999 FSM, when the HL relay is energized (by turning on the HL sw) power goes thru a fuse and to the HL (with 2 filaments) via a Red/Blue wire. From there 2 wires (Red/green and Red/yellow) go to the HL switch which selectively completes a ground. One wire is for the low-beam, and the other is for the high-beam. So both 'return' wires should be 'hot' with the HL on, but only the low-beam is on since its 'return' wire is now grounded thru the switch. When the hi-beam (brights) is selected, the grounding is switched to the hi-beam 'return' wire.

Peculiar way for Toyota to do it. I hope I'm making sense.

Yep that's why I asked if he was using a relay. Our trucks high beams are negatively switched. The easiest way to do it, is to wire the ground AND activation switch to the low AND high beam wires. Then it will work properly. I can't remember what pin goes where but it's something like this:
    30 battery positive
    87 to aux light
85 to low beam (should be a negative)
86 to high beam(should be activation wire)

85&86 might need to be switched depending on witch one is ground.. I can't remember atm.

Thanks for the input guys...This might explain why when I first spliced into the Red/Blue wire, which on the diagram I tracked down stated it was for the highs, it didn't work. But when I switched it to Red/Green the lights come one with the brights switch when the toggle is switched to on.
