Hello there I'm new to tacoma world just need some help on something I'm planning on doing. Just cosmetically. And I want to paint the grill. I don't like the chrome color. I'm looking to maybe paint the grill and the tacoma badges a burgundy color? Or maybe just painting the grill and black and get rid of the badges completely?

What do you need help with?...... If you are seriously asking for advice on the appearance of what you are proposing to do, that's a little silly. Why on earth would you care what people on a Tacoma forum think about things that you like?

Tacoma is a great truck. Personalize it the way you want and make it your own. Welcome to TW.

Plastidip. If you don't like it peel it off.

Plasti-Dip! Easy to apply, and just as easy to remove if you don't like the look/result.

I'd also dip the badges, and once again, if you don't like the results then you can debadge.

YouTube has thousands of "how to" videos. How to remove the grille, takes about ten/fifteen minutes tops. Spray 6-8 coats of dip, and reinstall. Probably a two hour process to do the grille, and all the badges.

Homedepot carries a few colors, matte black, white, and red. But for a bigger selection you can go to dipyourcar.com. They sell pretty much every color. Plus they have several "how to" videos on their site.

I just dipped my TRD Pro Grille. Didn't like the shiny black, so I changed it to Matte Black and did the "TOYOTA" letters in a Dark Gray. Dipyourcar had the Dark Gray on sale, paid like $4 a can. Homedepot sells it for like $6.

One can will easily do the grille. Don't think you'll need more than two cans to do everything.

Good luck! It's actually fun and very easy to do!

Someone (Op) is going to have a hard life on TW with an attitude like that. One post and OP is letting his feelings get hurt.

Buy an SR5 or Pro grill. A paint job will always look like you painted it.

I read his original post and it clearly states he wants a burgundy color. It does not ask for color suggestions. I thought he was asking how to go about painting, so I said Plasti dip.

In an attempt to be constructive here... A lot of guys debadge, that looks great. Personally I like the emblems so I kept mine on. I plastidipped my grille and emblems black. In regards to burgundy vs black it's your truck so pick whichever color you like more. Plastidip is easy enough to do and remove if you don't like it.

What kind of input are you looking for?

I read his original post about 20 times and was still unsure exactly what he wanted help with... That's why i responded the way i did. Interesting too that he has all kinds of time to PM me and trash talk, but can't bother to clarify his post for the subscribers or respond to any of the posts that have been made here with suggestions like yours.

    all tore up already
i used SEM paint products to do my grille. explained it too many times to do again in full, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a pm. easily done right and wont chip or look bad even if you dont have previous paint experience. just be sure to buy the right adhesion promoter that works with chrome plastic. i love the way mine looks and have gotten a few compliments on it! dont think id recommend plastidip because it is designed to peel off and likely wouldnt stand up well to washing, bugs etc as well as proper paint would. but its cheaper, easier and everyone loves derp(i guess if you want the textured bedliner look?)
