HAM radio installed, Kenwood head unit installed, tinted windows, TRD pro tail lights, MESO laser etched (topo) blacked out emblems and steering wheel cover, MESO dome and map lights, 3rd bed rail installed, MESO skip button installed, Puddle lights, bed lights, MESO over head rack, Kicker speakers, JL Audio stealth Box subwoofer, Alpine amp, 3TPAM installed.
I want to start by saying I'm a newbie. I didn't install my system I bought the components and had my really good local shop install them. That's being said this is what I have so far:

Kicker KS 6x9 component speakers for the front ran in passive (100 watts RMS 4 OHMS)
Kicker KS 6.5 coax for the rear (100 watts RMS 4 OHMS)

I have them currently running off the non JBL 2020 HU which I know isn't enough power. So I bought an Alpine R-A90S. From what I understand I can run a sub at 500 watts with this amp here is what it says on Alpines website.

    • 75W x 4 + 150W x 2 (4Ω, 14.4V, < 1% THD +N)
    • 100W x 4 + 250W x 2 (2Ω, 14.4V, < 1% THD +N)
    • Bridged: 200W x 2 + 500W x 1 (4Ω, 14.4V, < 1% THD +N)
What sub/box should I get with this system? Do I need earth shaattering bass? No I don't. I listen to some country (Newer stuff pounds on bass) lots of metal and occasionally some trap music. I want it to fit behind the seats of my double cab without too much modifications. Taking out the plastic is fine, but cutting child safety stuff Id rather not do and taking the seats out is a no go.

    Thanks everyone in advance.

Mr Marc seems to be the go to for good quality custom subs for the Tacoma. You could also do a JL Stealthbox. I’ve been very happy with mine but a lot of people say they are too expensive for what it is. I got mine of sale from JL for about 10% off but they don’t go on sale often.

I looked at the stealth boxes and I'm not entirely impressed because the RMS on them is 400 and I think (I'm a newb so I'm not entirely sure) that my amp will push about 500.

Awesome! Did he lead you down that path? I just shot him a message on instagram so hopefully I will hear from him soon. My biggest problem is pairing a sub with my amp. Once that happens, it'll be easy from that point on!

He did lead me to the shallow mount subs.. I had my doubts coming from Full size P3d4 10.. RMS 500 peak 1k.. The shallows have the same specs believe it or not.. but they are a tad pricey. a little over 500 a piece.. but when your tight on space its a choice you have to make. I had the wiring harness and processor from the last truck so that made things easier.. I'm still just using the 5 channel amp for fronts back and subs.. Im saving up for a dedicated monoblock amp next.. Even 200-500 watts makes a nice start with the bottom end of things.. Its a question of how crazy do you want to go.

PS I did have to remove the mounts.. but not the child restraints in the back along with the plastic trays as well.. I also wound up adding spacers for the rear seats so there was extra room between the sub and back of the seats.. I did manage to keep the plastic back on the rear seats.
