I have a 2004 SR5 2.7L extra cab tacoma and have done a few upgrades already... leer canopy, armorguard bed liner, firestone airbag rear suspension, 5100 front suspension, rock sliders, k&n air filter, chrome bull bar with PIAA lights and a few other minor add ons.

What my questions to all TW are....

    1) What should I do to it next? suggestions / recommendations

    2) suggestions on black rims...thoughts on black AR rims?

    3) remove bull bar for after market skid plate ( and suggestions on what to get ) also, where to remount PIAA lights?

I really do appreciate all advice and look forward to hearing your opinions!!! :)

I like the stock wheels. Makes the truck look cleaner IMO. I'd remove the Bull Bar personally. What are your plans for offroading? Just dirt roads?

nothing too major of offroading but more than just dirt roads. there is also a lot of snow where I am so i probably going to get the skid plate because I had to remove it for the bull bars and nothings protecting the underside of my engine.

Get a plate bumper from elite or relentless, their bad as-s and i might be wrong but i think those come with built in skid plate. Its nice chunk of change but you deffinately get what you pay for

I personally love these red 1st gens! I think you should paint all chrome black, do the deck plate mod, get some new wheels/tires, get rid of the bull bar ( pratically worthless for protection, and maybe some doug thorley headers with new exhaust system, and maybe a nice little suspension lift.... Well its your truck, just my 2 cents :D

bull bar will be gone when I'm home next shift...working 31 day camp shifts so not much time to wrench on my truck. should I ditch the PIAA lights too or relocate them? I was going to try and put them behind the grill. any thoughts?

I definitely want to go with the black rims....thoughts on painting them black or going with the some black AR rims.

Umm, not to sure about the dimensions of your lights but if your gonna put them behind the grill theyll have to be pretty thin. Some people say its not good for air flow but i think youll be fine.

I dont know what type of paint you would have to use for the wheels but itll definately be cheaper than new ones. If you got the money go ahead and buy new wheels but keep in mind, if your gonna get bigger tires later you might not want big rims now.

    -Remove the Bull Bar
-Plasti-Dip or paint front and rear bumper black
-Color match chrome grille surround to match the body

That would do WONDERS for your truck. These simple changes would really set it off.

Darkest in Wa. State is 35%, thats common in moat states. Limo tint is 5%. Personally I have 20% all around and it looks great

well for cheap u can do the deckplate mod.

you could look into a rear locker aswell for more traction.

if ur looking for a bumper, I love Woolworth desert racing ones.

I painted my rims. Love em. Turned out great. Check my sig.

Also don't get a plate bumper if you dont off road, thats a huge waste of money.
