I am in need of a hard tonneau cover for my truck. I've searched all over the place but couldn't find the answers I need. I am leaning towards manufactures, like undercover, snugtop, and ARE. In your opinion which would be best if I wanted maximum protection against the elements and from thieves?

Also I know that a lot of water comes up from the beds drain holes and from the tailgate. So I need something to plug up all these holes. (i know that sounds dirty, please move on :p). Got any ideas? I was thinking some sort of rubber grommet will do, but don't know where to start looking for such a thing.

And i need to seal the tailgate. From past experience has there been any products out there that prevent water from coming into the bed?
    Does it work well?

    Thx

My parents have an undercover tonneau on our Ram 1500 - and we absolutely love it. At the time I researched all the options and for us, that was the best option.

We didn't want a painted tonneau as you can't put anything on top without scratching it. The undercover is composite/plastic (it is textured) so it's very scratch resistant and very strong. We drive the truck to go skiing so cold weather resistance/durability is a must, and in the past 5 years it's proved to be great. Absolutely unaffected by the cold - even with ice sheets forming on top as the snow melts during the day and freezes at night.

It's very strong and I stand on it all the time (I'm currently 290lbs) without issue. The cover locks by locking the latches in place (one on each side).

If it wasn't for the fact that Tacoma's bed is so small in comparison, I would get the same cover for my Taco. But due to wanting more space, I'm probably going to get a shell.

Thanks for your input Revotaco. The undercover looks like a great cover. You made a good point on how it doesn't scratch compared to a painted tonneau cover. I called my local dealer and there out of stock, but can get one to me in about a month. However I need a tonneau cover by Wednesday for a trip, so I ordered a temporary cover from Amazon .....

Not cheep for a temporary solution but my cargo is kinda sensitive.

Tacoma short beds are really small. I should really be getting a shell, but I can't stand how suv it will look lol.
