Looking to purchase some aftermarket headlights (blackish in color) for my Taco. The wife is giving me an allowance of around $200. Any suggestions? I'm also running HID's so idk if I would need to purchase different bulbs?

I thought about the BHLM, but I like the look of some of the after market headlights.

My current setup is fine with the leds Nice and bright, thanks for your concerns though. IMO other drivers are moving their mirrors when I'm behind them (or changing lanes) due to the brightness of the LEDs, not the angle, but once again thanks for your concern although I don't recall asking for them.

I'm looking for new headlights, not bulbs. Something like this:

Thanks for your suggestions and tips Mr Insurance agent as I was already aware of most of what you said. I tend to drive with just the headlights on, not both head/fog lights as that seems to bother others then.

    I've been browsing carid.com

What he's trying to tell you is the Ebay projector lights, like the ones you posted, actually have worse light output than the stock headlights. The best way to put your current HID set up to work is to throw then into a set of projectors. It will throw the light better and give you a nice, clean cut off.

If you just want a blacked out OEM looking light, try Ebay but make sure you seal them up with silicone before mounting because they have a tendancy to leak otherwise...

Ya my buddy said I would most likely need to seal them as well. I'll look into retrofits, not from Ebay. Thanks for your help.

Check out theretrofitsource.com. They have done several group buys on here to the tune of 25% off the prices listed on their site.

If you read a few of Wolfpack's post about HIDs it will be obvious to most folks here that he does have some first hand experience with lighting upgrades. It's also obvious that he believes in courtesy to other road users.

I think he's being very kind offering to share his knowledge with you, especially after you posted that other drivers have to adjust their mirrors when you are traveling behind them. It's pretty obvious that you're blinding people, but you either don't care or are making excuses to keep doing things the cheap way.

Hopefully you don't kill anyone with your blinding, illegal HIDs. :(

I'm sure he is knowledgable and has been a great help. As I told him in a pm, I wasnt trying to be a dick I just felt I was being attacked is all.

I know others with my setup and want brighter lights! I'm not a dick biscuit while driving and try to be courteous. Hence why I don't drive with both head/fog lights on unless necessary.

    this is a shame sean.

i just sold a set of mini d2's earlier today with blacked out apollo shrouds and a can bus harness to another member for 50 bucks.

if i where you try see if you can find a guy that has the ebay style projectors and check them out in person they kind of suck performance wise brock is right about that shit. the set-up your currently running is more than likely much brighter.

trs has been giving away discounts and allowing for group buys like mad lately so it might be a good time if your even considering a retrofit to jump in on the band wagon.

the d2s and H1 are both going to be light years better than stock halogens and the hids your running now and certainly much better than the ebay projectors. plus they are very easy to retrofit.

also if you go this route i would hang on to your oem housings as they are the best in terms of quality your going to get they have fewer problems with moisture.

the community is here to provide knowledge, experience and the occasional goofiness :)

however, when it comes to lights and what not, these guys are serious and know their stuff!

Wolfpack, pugga, hans and the other guys couldn't have said it better.. save up about another hundred and get the Minis....simple retrofit, tons of threads on here to help you along the way. tackle it yourself and save some money.

bright lights are awesome, control em and you will be set! and you can drive with fogs on too ;) just retro them as well :p

i offer up my knowledge if you so choose to inquire. I will do my best to provide you with the knowledge i have.

i think this is what you want lol.

i have ran all three in the last year on my truck. i have had 2 sets of the d2's one set of H1's and now the modded fx-rs pushed with 55 watt ballast.

here is some pics of my old d2's and some i pulled from around the site when i was looking for projectors. sorry my pics of these suck dude lol. also a link for my fx-r retrofit.

i don't have any pics of my H1's but, they where as nice as my fx-rs. almost as much color and just a hair more narrow but more light in the foreground. so they lit up like 5 lanes across and had very nice color mine where modded by a retrofitter however for more color.

imo in our trucks the fx-r is a great choice due to the foreground limiter it has. basically that projector saves that light to be thrown out further in front which make for an intense and consistent cutoff. instead of having light being wasted right in front where you won't even see it due to the ride height of our trucks especially when lifted.

    hope this helps buddy.
