    Hi all,

I am in need of street tires for my Tacoma and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good tire for me to go with. My current setup is 285/75R16. They are off-road tires, but seeing as how I do more highway driving than offroading I am in desperate need of a decent set of street tires. These are the tires that came with the truck by the way. upload_2016-10-26_13-27-10.jpg

Welcome from a fellow Fort Worth Taco driver.

In that size there aren't a lot of options that aren't Load range E light truck tires. These are going to be heavier that what you want for highway driving. For my mall crawling I went up to a 17 and got a passenger rated All Terrain that is 285/70R17 but those are also scarce. But passenger tires are not built to go off-road. Might need to drop down to a 265/75R16 to have lighter options.

Cant go wrong with michelin LTX m/s2s or michelin defenders. The ltx's arent made anymore so they could be hard to find, but the defenders are basically the same tire.

I would agree with @hoarder23 in running a smaller tire size for more options. I am currently running 265/75/16 Ironman radials (came with the truck when I bought it) and are perfect for highway driving. Also went to a Tacoma world meet last weekend for some dirt action and could keep up with the caravan through the trails and even up some sand!

If majority of your driving it street with the rare occasion of dirt I would drop down a size. Better gas mileage too

A little of this and a little of that.
    Welcome to TW.

I like Michelin tires, but there are many other good tires to choose.

I like this website for tire information-https://tiresize.com/

    Good luck.

Falkens are also a good mix. Do well off-road, yet are quiet and smooth in the highway.

My truck came with Michelin LTX M/S2's which are really quiet, comfortable, do well in rain, ok in snow, tread life is great. But the best thing about them is they're really light (I think they're P-rated) and actually result in better gas mileage. Compared to my wrangler territories it's night in and day in terms of comfort and gas mileage.

It depend on what you are looking to get out of them. I drive about 45k a year and did lots of research before getting the Toyo Open Countery A/t2. I run 285/75/16 and they are E load. My 2014 Tacoma is at 97k with these tires and it looks to be at 50% tread left. They are a high milage tire but made for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. You put them on a Tacoma and you will get many miles out of them. I have had zero problems with the tires. The do great in the rain, street and mild off road. The tires have an aggressive look. I get 20 - 21 mpg here in Missouri. Before anyone says BS on the mpg, each state is different. I drive all over the midwest and my mpg changes state by state. I think it has to do with wind in the area and the road composition. Illinois has been the worst for mpg. Just my 2 cents.

For pure pavement I would drop down to 265/75 or 265/70 and get the Michelin Defenders.

265/70 would look really small on that truck, IMO. 265/75 isn't a shit ton larger, but she's got a lot of gap over those 285s to run stock size tires.

This is a 265/70/16 equivalent (265/65/17) with a similar lift height. Picturing this with a non-aggressive highway tire would make OPs truck look even smaller. @ChadsPride's truck.

Compared to more or less the same truck, with 265/75/16. This truck running a mild, streetable all terrain Cooper ATP/AT3. My truck.
