im counting on my old roommate acquiring the large bank account as he's now an attorney and his parents are loaded...

however...as discussed in another thread...i may go ugly but i wont go fat

soo...we'll just bring them onto the boat and make them walk the plank

i figure along the way we can maybe work at various docks as we need stuff done

all joking aside...we honestly did consider this and realized that neither of us have the money currently and have put it off for a few years...luckily we're both still alive and neither of us are married...sooo...yeah...the topic actually came up a couple weeks ago when we were in charleston looking at a huge rigged ship (i have no idea what theyre called) but it looked like a pirate ship and had like 4 sails...and we were both drooling

btw, we need to get our dive licenses so when we're not nailing chicks or pillaging we can find cool places to dive. i need alot of spear guns though cause i'm gonna kill alot of endangered fish and turtles and sharks and mermaids

i can get licensed up here and i'm thinking about doing that. they do training in pools and then go to lake jocassee for actual dive time. its 400 feet deep there and the water is crystal clear.

as far as teh somolian pirates, if we do that we'll have to scrap the sailboat idea. i dont think many modern pirates try to chase people down with a sailboat. plus it makes escaping kinda hard too

If you are going to chase dreams, now would be the time to do it. Once you've got a family, mortgage, etc, etc, (unless this is your dream) .....it'll be much harder to accomplish. Go, nd, make your life an adventure.

My best friend has wanted a sail boat since he was a kid. Recently he got his chance when this old guy he met offered to give him a vintage wooden sail boat that was stuck in storage up in MD. He drove up there to look at it and apparently the boat storage company had thought the owner abandoned it and had stuck it outside for 15 years with all the hatches open. The boat was completely rotten. Felt bad for him. Hope he finds one someday.

wooden boats are cool in theory but i'd want a wooden boat about as much as i'd want a wooden car. you wanna talk about some serious money and upkeep. fiberglass is definitely the way to go unless you are a millionaire

maybe the railroad when the economy gets better. you could work outdoors in the sun/rain/snow/dust, and be skinny like me.

or you could get a job working for the FEDS as a national park ranger.

I believe it because I used to sell commercial marine paint and varnish. A gallon of Sikkens marine varnish was $100, and that was 5 years ago. Some of the hull paints were upwards of $200 a gallon. Basically, a wooden boat is a chunk of wood you throw in the water and keep from rotting.
