I have a 2012 with the Sai bullshit. Not under warranty and I refuse to replace them.

It dawned on me today that this may or may not work.

2011 trucks did not have sai. Could I essentially grab a 2011 ecu and program the vin to my truck? Or essentially programming all the cms to think it's 2011.

I have a programmer at my shop, so I can fully reflash ecms. As long as the connections are the same this could possibly work no?

Thoughts? Should I get a used one and just give it a go?

It's not recommended to use one year's ecu flash on a different year. ECU flashes are linked to vin number... different range VIN numbers have different offset calibrations (likely because if engine production variations), and could cause very poor engine performance or damage...or could even brick the ecu if you put an incorrect flash, and require a jtag type reprogram for revival which requires expensive developer type tools.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as doing as doing a iOS or windows update.

Whenever I hear the expression "pick brains" I think of the ancient Egyptians picking the brain out through the nose with a wire hook before mummifying the deceased.

Your best bet is to learn HEX code, dump/decrypt/decompile/edit/encrypt/recompile Toyotas ECU code, Become a fucking legend, profit. I doubt this will happen with the level of expertise it sounds like you have with the programmer at your shop and how it works.

You're next closest bet is something that will simulate the effects of the Secondary Air Intake.

I believe there is a elimination / bypass kit available for your truck. It's about $350.

Which works out to being 470cad plus shipping/duties/other border bullshit its more on the 600 line of things.

I knew it wasn't going to be simple, I wasn't planning on reflashing my ecm to an older year. My original question was already answered with the wrong plugs. As for decrpyting the ecu, nah, im good there haha.
Ill build my own bypass for now.
