Need more pics, but it looks like your clearcoat has failed. There is no fix for that other than a repaint and clear.

Has anyone ever tried this product? Optimum clear coat restorer. Would this help or be a waste of money for me?D3CE56AF-B729-4D4B-A5F7-63E604B592CB.jpg

That is a pretty cool products but I dont think it will achieve what you want. It ends up thicker and more durable than a ceramic coating, but is thinner and less permanent than clear coat. I don't know for sure but I think that is meant more for clear coat scratches, and clear coat that is depleted from years of compounding and polishing. I like that you're trying to find a solution but I would hate to see you throw money out the window.

Lol. Line-X would definitely get rid of the faded white but I think I’ll go a different route.

You mean you don't like the Line-X look? I had a black 2016 Tacoma and I was planning on getting the roof and hood done. They quoted me $650.

There is nothing that will fix that. Clear Coat has failed. That will need to be sanded down and repainted.

That's not faded white. That's what the base color looks like before it's cleared.

    The clear is gone.

Your options are few, and no professional option is cheap.

I need to deal with the same but worse. I'm trying to formulate a plan to correct it cheap but my truck is not as nice as yours. From what I'm gathering, you have to remove all that failed clear and you'll likely get thru the base coat in some areas when prepping. A proper paint match will need to be done by professionals. If you just don't care and want to do it yourself, you can go a few routes but the you gotta weigh the options of possibly messing it up yourself and wasting a ton of your own time vs paying for pro work.

    Spray cans aren't cheap either.

I’ve decided to have it repainted. I was hoping to find a cheap fix but to get it done right there really isn’t one.

I'm assuming you've gone out for quotes then? If so, how much and what's their proposed fix (i.e. repaint whole panel, repaint failed area only and blend with original, or...)?

I’m going to repaint the whole truck. There are several dings and scratches from the previous owner that I want to get fixed. I have a friend that owns a paint and body shop. He is gonna do it for $1200.

Man you're not kidding! Especially if he's using halfway decent supplies and doing all the prep work!
