My 17’ TRD Sport needs new tires, but want something a bit wider than stock. It doesnt appear that i can achieve more width without replacing wheels too? (Prefer not to use spacers) Whats the best setup to get a little bit wider stance with a more aggressive looking tire? Please include specs and a pic if you have one handy. TIA.

Side note: I’m old and dont want to lift it!

You can go wider on the tires but may need to modify to fit the larger tire.

You’ll need to see what tire sizes come in the tires you want.

You can get a wider tire without going larger on the wheel.

16x9 -12 offset 265/75/16 but you will rub factory mudflaps without a lift and you will still get an occasional rub while turning going over bumps after removing the mudflaps. They stick out about an inch past the fenderwells.

If you want a bit of a wider stance you can look for wheels with an offset less than stock. I believe the Sport wheels have an offset of +30mm.

Here is my TRD offroad with Method Standards (16x8) with an offset of 0mm

Tires are General Grabber AT2 (265/75/16)

Keep in mind that for the TRD OR the OEM wheels are 16x7 with a +25mm offset.

Rubs the front mudflaps when turning while the suspension is being compressed. I will either just remove the front mudflaps, or trim them.

Here are my 17" stealth custom series sr8s with 265/70r17 nitto ridge grapplers. Very minimal rub and no lift. 20180604_161443.jpg

It has 265/65/17 now and it looks like the most I could get is 265/70/17 without rubbing, but those don’t get me any more width.

I like these rhinos. They are 17x9 with +12 offset and looking at the new AT3 LT 265/65/17. However, I don’t think these would work because the stock rim is 17x8 and if my calculations are correct that would be adding 1.709” in total width?

    I believe stock is 17x7.5

A 17x9 wheel is 1.5" wider than a 17x7.5 wheel. I'm not sure if you can run a 17x9 wheel though to be honest.

I bought mine new with these already on the truck dealer installed. It’s a DWG D10 17x9 in wheel with Wrangler A/T 265/70/17 tire with zero offset. No rubbing except when I turn into an uneven driveway and bottom out. I get very minimal rubbing but my mud flaps was removed at the dealership and it looks like they trimmed a very small area.

I was hoping to one day put on a 2.5” to 3” lift when these tires are done. But I don’t know if I should go slightly bigger tires or if these same size tires will look weird with a liftD30A71DA-AE42-4CB7-BB9E-BB93AFCA5864.jpg
