Hey all, my Father’s 2012 Tacoma 4x4, 98,000 miles is having some issues. I am mechanically inclined and do all the maintenance on both his and my Tacoma but I’ve never had any issues with the power steering system and as such am not versed in identifying problems/solutions with power steering pumps/hoses,pipes.
I could use a push in the right direction to get started. Many thanks!

As far as I know he’s running the original fluid. The metal pipe directly in front of the front crossbeam/Jack point is covered in a fluid which I believe to be power steering fluid. The front Jack point is also covered and looks like the fluid even coagulated into a bacon grease type substance. See pictures.
    Few questions,
    Is this power steering related?
    What needs to be replaced?
And should I go ahead and do a complete power steering fluid replacement and or flush while I’m at it?
And Anything else that I should check or might be related?

    edit:
I should add, it’s dry everywhere else.
That joint, metal tube to rubber hose and below is the only place it’s a mess.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Looks to be PS related. I'd say, clean all that residue up, top off the fluid, and monitor the leak to see where it's coming from. It's difficult to tell where it's coming from with all the leak residue still present.

Those metal clips can cut into rubber tubing over the years. Id get it nice and clean and have someone sit in the truck and turn the wheel lock to lock while you look for the source of the leak between each turn.

Its that hose connection. The rubber is hard and flat under the clamp.

Try moving it farther up on the hose to some fresher rubber, like right next to the bump on the hard line. clean it up and monitor. If still leaking replace the hose and clamp

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Metal part of line looks good in pic. Remove clamp and put worm type clamp on a tad further up. Clean off all crap and observe for leak.

Appreciate all the insights, thanks! Going to troubleshoot with y’all’s suggestions and see what’s what. Will report back if anything new pops up and or a solution reached.
