But all the models can have the howl, not only the Off Roads

My truck wasn't on the recall list when I ran it, however when doing a visual inspection I did see some seeping around the diff. Compared it to my father in laws and I noticed his had little to no residue around the diff while mines had a decent amount.

And almost all models are being recalled and if leaking the hardware gets replaced. This could be because of stretched bolts and can allow the housing to get out of alignment and start howling. It's just a consideration that I feel should be looked into.

I would debate it with them. If you held off until the recall you would have gotten the new hardware but you had it serviced early and not to the recalls specifications.

The Off Road models make up 15% of sales in my region. That's not almost all models.

I drove a truck like mine but in short bed with 9 miles on the odometer. It howled just like mine. I don't think it's the alignment after stretching and wearing in

It very well could be though. Dealers are finding them now seeping on the lot. So faulty hardware = potential bad alignment in my book. That means 85% are not OR and are being recalled, that means almost all to me

I have a 2017 4x4 OR and I ran my vin and the recall for the leak didn't come up.. but what did come up was a air bag issue :notsure:

I'm on the list, sadly, but I don't see any obvious leaks with a physical inspection. Time to call for an appointment

if its not leaking, why would you want to take it in at this point? Wouldn't you want to wait and see if it leaks so they can replace the gasket and other needed stuff, versus "using" the recall when nothing is wrong?

Good point. Wouldn't it keep it from leaking if they "tighten" up the hardware?

maybe, but if it leaks, I want a new seal/gasket. In my mind, you can keep yanking on the bolts, but its a properly seated gasket that stops the leaking.

I hate, hate, HATE my dealership... took it in this morning. Was even nice enough to show them the pictures before they put it up on the rack so they knew I was "trying" to work w/ them and I knew there was an issue.

Low and behold, "Your truck is 110% fine".

    Time for a new dealership...

Yes... that's the only way to truly fix it right at this point.

So they gave you documentation that the recall was complied with? If they didn't call corporate and tell them they refused and then go somewhere else.
