Shocker, my OR is not listed. But maybe something else is being worked on for the OR model.

    going to be fun!
I called my dealer and told them I need to bring this in and they said "NO" i'm not on the list and I said I have had it in for a seeping/leaking rear diff all ready and she said I shit you not "this is normal" so I said it's normal for a recall of 250K of Toyota Tacoma's that are exhibiting these issues!

Most of the people on this forum have TRD OR's. I checked under my truck I do see very minor seeping. My truck has 9800 miles on it and I scheduled my 10000 mile service for next Saturday. I will see what my dealership does about it. They probably say nothing is wrong with my differential. I have a minor humming noise from the rear on cooler days but nothing on warm/hot days kind of weird.

Pretty much. 191,600 were sold in 2016 some of the 178,000 units sold in 2015 are 3rd gens, and they have sold 43,000 so far in 2017 excluding April sales.
There are probably 300,000+ 3rd gen models out there and the remaining 50,000 must be off road and pro models not on the vin list.

My 17 year old Jeep didn't seep as much as my 4 month old truck. So no, it's not normal, it's never normal for fluids to leak from a vehicle

I ran my vin numbers, no recall came up. My truck is considered a 2017 and built in 2016 on 8/16 in Texas. It's a 4x4 Sport access cab manual transmission. But in other news my rear differential is Blatantly leaking oil from both sides. I have an appointment for inspection on Monday. Should I be worried about premature wear on diff or possibility of the gasket not being seated correctly ?

I ran my vin, and it says no recall. I am not noticing any seepage but it only has 2800 miles. 2017 TRD Sport DC MT.

Got mine back today. They said no leaks and tightened stuff to specs. (Can confirm bc I crawled under my truck and my girl did it too prior to taking it in) So all clear now. Will re check in a month or so to keep an eye on it.
    Good luck everyone!!!

Hey sorry to ask shit thats already been discussed, but I work almost 60 hour work weeks.

The recall is just for low diff fluid? So you take it in and they fill it up? Wouldn't it be more intelligent to just check it yourself? Mine is not recalled it said, but I am still going to check all my fluids on my entire truck on my day off tomorrow.

The actual hardware/gasket might be bad. The recall has it replaced by the dealer if it is leaking. Sure, you could do all this yourself rather easily, but why not leave the liability on Toyota if they are addressing it for free? It does suck for people that are very busy though.

Came across this thread and immediately crawled under my truck (SR5 Mfg. date 11/15 Texas) no leaks visible at 17K. Should I still take it to the dealer? I assume the estimate 45 min. time at the dealer listed in the recall notice is for simply an inspection. Fortunately, the tech at the nearest dealer to me has been SUPER! Wanted to change out my CPS to the newer version anyway.
