You are correct, but if you understood the amount of frustration that taking my Taco to my crappy dealership for another issue is causing me, you would then see what I am not exactly "happy" about this.

Basically mid August 2015- late March 2017 production. If it's not leaking they'll recheck the nuts. If it's leaking they'll replace the gasket and fluids. If it's too bad they're going to replace the carrier.

I did not expect a real answer as my question was borderline rhetorical. But thanks for that insight, I have zero connections with the industry so I would have never guessed.

I'd just go ahead and do the 10k service... you're not far from it and I would think changing the oil a bit early would not hurt it. Yeah, you're rotating your tires a bit early, but so what. If you have it in there, might as well make decent use of the lost time.

Actually, unless something changed in only the last few years, they use air torque guns on the main lines. So, if one of those was not checked up correctly or some guy pulled the gun off the bolt before it finished, it would not register to anyone that something was wrong. I've been through Georgetown, Princeton, Smyrna, and Canton... nothing fancy.

Side note... that rear end would have probably been a sub-assembly from a supplier, so you would have to go down stream to find that and they are not always the greatest either. Did I ever mention when I worked at a Toyota supplier and we "certified" that we found and corrected all the faulty brake master cylinders?

    I'm surprised yours is.
I just called and checked there. Mine isn't yet but toyota canada just told me on the phone the recall is only a few hours old and they do not know yet which ones are effected. Maybe its a definite for all the 2015 build date ones. But not sure for 2016 yet. Mine was built Dec 2016

do you have the howl as well?
And let us know what they do.
I haven't been able to confirm whether or not I have the howl.
If the howl is caused by damage because of low oil, kind of sucks that they won't just replace them.

Thing is if its leaking due to be over tightened would they not need to replace the whole gasket?

@Joe23 My build date was April 2016. Anyhow, this is what I'm seeing on the site when I enter my VIN.
