    I used to work at a car wash and the guide rail can fit about 11.5" wide tires comfortably. 12.5" max and we always had someone ride through so if it tries to jump the rail, they would catch it. The moron driving likely came flying up to the guide rail, turned the wheel to get in the guide, and hit the edge of the rail on the sidewall thus popping it. I've seen much worse. Lowered cars get stuck on the rails (someone ripped a mini cooper bumper off), the rails fuck up and cars hit each other, I even saw a van go through the wall (coworker error).

    The car wash should pay for at least 1 tire though. We would have. That's what insurance is for.
