Anyone have a link to a DIY thread for changing these out? I searched and oddly didn't get any results back... mostly just people selling their used removal tool.

Thanks to OP for posting this thread, I went by the dealer today, had my service advisor look up the TSB, and order the parts listed.
I think it's worth letting my dealer take a shot at fixing this issue, if it doesn't work, it should give me some leverage to getting them to do the ECGS bushing.
If nothing else, I have a paper trail with Toyota for warranty documentation...

As far as my truck, its not under warranty (2005), if it was I would do it and if nothing else then do the ECGS after. I am interested to hear if anyone gets this done if it is successful before I pony up the $.

lol looks like they are using the same damn part..... and even if it is a different needle bearing, its still a needle bearing thats too short to support the CV properly.

dont even bother with this TSB it aint gonna fix any thing

Now i can not confirm that this is the same part number as the original needle bearing .... and more than likely it is the same part but they are still putting a needle bearing back in.

So either come to an agreement with the toyota dealer to have them do the labor and you supply the ECGS bushing, making a BIG NOTE that it is NOT to be driven in all the way as it is longer.... or simply dont even bother with the tsb in the first place and get the ecgs bushing installed at a local mechanic you trust.

I paid around $250 IIRC. It was the first one my mechanic had ever done, so I'm sure someone with a little more experience could do it faster (may or may not charge less).

The biggest thing is having the proper tool to pull it out as there is not much room. I made my own, but it took me a good hour of slowly shaping the pulling piece to fit properly in the diff to pull the old one out.
