Do you guys still recommend replacing the needle bearing for 2022 Tacomas?

Going with King 2.5 CO in July and thought perhaps they improved the part by now in mfg.

Definitely replace it. In my opinion, the needle bearing should have never been used in the first place. Even if totally stock, I'd do it for peace of mind after pulling mine out and holding it in my hand.

I installed the portions of the ‘Taco OEM lift kit myself. Still don’t have any vibrations with my OEM needle bearing. I do have the ECGS tools and bearing/seal on hand in case it does develop. Chasing down another gremlin in my ‘Taco though with rough idle after the Fricken ACIS door in the plenum broke off.

If there is undue forces being placed on the needle bearing on the drivers side, what are the forces acting on the tube bearing on the passenger side?

So this bearing replacement is for the driver's side, and the pax side uses a ball bearing...right? Is it worth doing both, or is the pax, ball bearing, good to go?

I might be remembering wrong, but from what I remember on changing my 08' is that the driver side bearing is more narrow than the passenger side. So the driver side one fails. The passenger is more meaty so has more support.

That seems to be the problem with the stock design is this bearing is just a bit too narrow and doesnt give the support needed. The replacement is a bit wider and solid. At least thats what I remember from when I did it years ago. I might be wrong though.

Its a shit design, and can fail on stock trucks as well. I replaced mine when my cv failed.

Are there any shops in Ontario Canada that do this?
Is the Yukon CV Axle Bushing a suitable alternative to ECG's version?
If so, does anybody know the part numbers for the seal and install tool for Yukon - I've found their removal tool (does it too need to be modified to fit nicely)?

    Thanks guys.

I’m assuming mine is bad. I have a slowwww pulsing vibe at 50 mph from the front, and have replaced my brake rotors and front wheel bearings with no change. Bet my last dollar it’s the needle bearing even though my truck is stock

My understanding is, there is one on the passenger side as well, but the stub axle is supported by a roller bearing on the outer end so vibrations are unlikely. The driver side needle bearing is supporting a massive chunk of metal rotating at wheel speed with no other help. From factory I was surprised how much play was on the driver's side vs. the passenger side.

I changed mine for peace of mind when I did my lift. I didn't want to go back in there later. With the right tooling, swapping the needle bearing for the bushing is pretty easy.

Installed mine saturday before doing my lift install this weekend (weather permitting) Rather be proactive instead of reactive.

I have had enough people in the Sac Ca. Area asking me to do them that I am "stocking" a few of them in the shop now. Here is a pic of the needle bearing vs the ECGS bushing

    Work in progress...
I don't know I bought the kit about 55,000 miles back. I still have the part and the tools if needed.
