Justin, have you found a seller yet or you plan on putting a new motor?

Sorry, it does look like I will be keeping the truck and getting a Jasper engine installed.

That’s great to see. Best of luck with the new engine.

How's your truck running on the Jasper? Pretty much on the same boat

Looks like it is running great. Still coming up to the first 500 miles since the install. Took a little time to get it, as they said it was an old model. Pretty sure as a 2006 it was a 2nd Gen, thought that doesn't seem that old to me in Toyota years!
Go for it! It was a good option as the Tacoma redesign isn't out yet.

So sad to see another Tacoma with a head gasket failure. My 05 dc speedway blue 4.0 developed a head gasket leak. I was at 200k. It didnt blow the seal completely but it would overheat on long distance drives. Hopefully the new motor works out for you. I got quotes from 2k-5k for a replacement.

Avoid any 05-06 early production motors. 07+ Fj motors were what was recommended to me.

A little Late to the party, but the best bet what I offer my customers is getting a new bottom end from Toyota which as far as a couple of months ago was around 4-5k, machine the heads if possible, and do all front end service water pump, tensioners, etc all OEM because it is not worth it to tear the motor apart because of a crappy Chinese part. Had an FJ in we also did engine mounts, knock sensors(expensive), and was roughly 11-12k out the door. Personally never heard of Jasper, I'm guessing it's like LKQ, nice to see you ended up fixing the ol' 4.0 the market is crazy right now!
