X2. Their just kids having fun. There are many other things to stress over than this. Dont you find enjoyment having kids playing around the neighborhood, being carefree, in a free country. Watch out for them, befriend them, play ball with them and grow a nurturing, close knit community.

Ahh I see I am not the only one with asshole neighbors. I have a guy across the street two houses away with 4 asshole kids. They have a big side yard and 4 empty lots next to them as our subdivision is still fairly new. Given this they always seem to either be on someone elses lawn or in the street in front of my house. The kids are disrespectful and out of control most of the time and I tolerated a lot of BS before I broke one day and I yelled at the kids because the parents weren't home. I did call the father after that and left a voicemail for him to stop by my house when he got home but he clearly knew I was going to bitch him out about his kids so he never called and I finally cornered him a week later when he was outside washing his truck. What set me off was they were throwing rocks into the street in front of my house and 1/2 ended up in my driveway pretty fuggin close to my truck. No exaggeration the street and my driveway were loaded with big ass rocks, not just little pebbles, at least 2-3 inches in diameter What brought my attention to what was going on was the fireworks they started setting off in front of my house. Needless to say the father had a problem with the fact that I said something to his kids. It wasn't until he started bitching to the other neighbors about me yelling at his kids and reaming his ass and them taking my side that something in his head must have clicked that maybe it was his kids and not me who were the assholes. Keep in mind I have caught his kids throwing rocks into my driveway before and talked to him about it but he clearly would rather be his kids buddy rather than a parent. When they are up to no good and they spot me they do in fact stop dead in the tracks now. Unfortunately, my neighbors also expect and rely on me to be the neighborhood enforcer as none of them seem to ever have the balls to do anything about sh*t going on in the neighborhood. I'm sure in their minds I'm just the crazy guy from NY.
In your case how tall are the bushes? I know you mentioned the fence only being 3ft so I am picturing them still throwing the ball in your yard but just throwing over the fence with one group in their yard and one in yours. Keep in mind I am the worlds biggest pessimist so I could be over thinking it but I have dealt with my fair share of asshole neighbors.

Just a quick question to follow up your response. Are you a homeowner and if so do you keep a nice yard? Not to be a d*ck but that tends to be the response of people who either A) Don't own their own home or B) Own a home but the yard looks like crap. I know I spend a lot of money every year to keep my house looking good so yeah I get pissed if someone elses kids are either in my yard playing instead of their own or destroying my landscaping. I have a kid and granted she is not old enough to go out and play on her own but you can bet your ass that when she is she will know to respect other peoples property and not to go out and destroy other peoples yards or even be in their yard unless they are playing with the homeowners kids or at least has permission which even than if they do not have kids they are playing with than they have no reason to be on someone elses property anyway.
Also keep in mind that I believe in raising my kids to be respectful of others and will be disciplined when needed not like a lot of parents now who spoil the crap out of their kids and give their kids everything under the sun even if they don't deserve or appreciate it as they would much rather be their kids best friend than parent. Too many kids nowadays with zero respect for authority. They do not get disciplined at home so they get all bent when someone else like a teacher tries and do so.

Neighborhood kids can be a pain, I know I was at that age, I did not grasp the concept of respecting other people's property till I got older, now I understand. I feel you are well with in your rights to install bushes and a fence, as long you follow the local codes and HOA rules. You tried to deal withe the issue in a civilize manner, that did not work, so your taking another way, still in a civilize manner.

I agree with you. What happen to people respecting other people's property. If you need more yard move your happy ass somewhere else. I had a similar issue when we bought our house. I have 5 acres in a neighborhood we had neighbors who thought it was their person park. Some of the kids would drive ATV's from their 11 acres to my 5 and then to the neighbors 15 just because there was no fence. So I ran a fence to keep them off the property. Good luck.

It's your property, you can do what you want. This is America! The kids were already destroying your private property, so they were in the wrong. You have already found out you are not going to be best friends with these neighbors, so dont be so polite anymore. That guy was pretty much saying fuck you, by playing football with his kids in your yard. The bushes sound like a good idea, or put sprinklers in on that side and turn them on everytime they are out there playing. You have already asked them to stay off your property. Your next step should be to post NO TRESPASSING signs up on your yard, so it will be officially posted. Your neighbor sounds like one of those self-righteous pricks just because he has kids. You are not wrong to be mad.

These threads always remind me that I have anger problems. When I saw that dude on my yard after I said gtfo.. It woulda been one of two options.

    1. call the cops for tresspassing.
    2. beat the shit outa the guy.

I'm leaning towards option 1 because hitting is not good.. or so they say.

when the father and sons played football in the side yard, think they were doing it to spite you?
If so, I would spray roundup in his front yard in the picture of a c*ck.

There's a large tree there too, so hopefully that deters them, but the bushes will be 5-6 feet tall. Taller then the kids.
The dad is also one of those that would rather be their friend then their dad. He lives his life vicariously through his kids, cause I hear him yelling at them all the time about things for baseball and basketball and football. they play on teams, and if they dont do good enough while they practice, he yells at them. It's kind of sad actually.

Yeah, I'm done being mr. nice guy. I tried being nice, I tried being civil. It obviously didn't work. I was even against putting up the bushes and the fence, and that's why we haven't yet. But when they were playing football in my yard again last weekend, that was the last straw. That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands. In order for them to play in my yard after this, they will have to be completely in my yard.
If that happens, the no trespassing signs go up, I call the cops and put up a surveillance system.

I have annoying neighbors as well. Great idea on the bushes.

When I was a kid, there is no way my parents would have let me keep going in the neighbors yard to play after having been asked to stop. My ass would have been grounded, and possibly kicked!

It is a simple lack of respect...(big problem with people in general these days).

I have 4 children...16,13,10 & 8. If they were mine & you spoke with me about the issue, I would correct the problem.......but its obvious this guy dosen't take you seriously. Best bet would be to let the law handle it before things get nasty.

Oh, and I forgot! Here's the best part. So they have a tiny front yard. But they have a HUGE fenced in back yard, thats even bigger then my side yard. But they don't seem to want to play in it, because their parents wont pick up the dog crap. Nice eh?

Yeah. I don't get it. When I was a kid, if I had pissed off my neighbor to the point that my parents got into an argument with them, after being asked to stop doing whatever I was doing, I would have gotten my ass kicked by my parents.

Sounds just like my neighbors! I hate that they play in the front near where our vehicles are parked. Play in the back dammit!
