Me too. Cause short of one of us moving, I don't know what else to do if calling the cops doesn't work. i just don't get it. We dont mind them having to come over to catch an overthrown ball, once in a great while. But literally playing and hiding thheir football in between our bushes and on our side of the fence is not gonna fly.

Forget the forsythia; plant Little Red holly bushes; they make a great privacy fence, and the first time one of the kids dives into it will be the last time. Them leaves are pointy and hurt like hell!

    Update.
So far this year, the fence/bushes seem to be working. We haven't had the boys playing football in our yard. They use the fence as a backstop when they play baseball or kickball, but at this point, I'm ok with that. I'm picking my battles. Last night their little girl and her 2 friends from across the street from her were running up and down the sidewalk screaming, but I don't care about that, as long as they aren't playing tackle football in my yard. LOL.

That sounds good. It is true that kids will be kids sometimes but they are capable of understanding property rules. We were lucky raising our three that we lived on a big cul-de-sac where the 6 or so houses at the end were all full of kids the same age. So that gave them over 5 acres of variety to play on.

But they all knew the rules very well.

Stay in your own yard unless your friends are at home AND you are invited over to play as well. All other yards with no kids are strictly off limits unless invited.

Your kids being taught this just shows your a responsible parent. Sadly, not all parents choose to be good parents and would rather have everyone else police and raise their kids for them. I just had yet another blow out with my across the street neighbor about his out of control kids. Fortunately, other neighbors are finally growing tired of them and growing a set to open their mouths too instead of it always looking like I'm the only one with the issue.

I think that's how my neighbors are. The want everyone else to raise their kids, except their oldest boy. I am convinced that the dad thinks his kid is going to be an nba star. He is out playing basketball all the time, and his dad seems to like yelling at him when he misses a shot, or does something he doesn't think is the right way. I wish some of my other neighbors would think the same way I do, but I think for the most part they just let their kids run all over and don't watch them. The neighbors we have problems with have a girl who's maybe 5, runs across the street and through the intersection all the time. Doesn't stop, doesn't look. I can almost GUARANTEE she will get hit by a car someday.

Someone beat me to it. "Good fences make good neighbors." Sounds like you've given them plenty of opportunity to be reasonable. Good luck. Send us pics of the finished product.

And maybe an electric wire running along the fence. :D

My house is the beige one. the white one is the neighbors. Not the best picture. I'll try to take better ones tonight. At some point, we're going to replace the black fence with white PVC vinyl picket style. As you can see, my side yard is huge compared to their front yard. Their backyard is pretty big, but they dont pick up their dogs poop, so yeah.

Nice pic. Didn't notice the date on OP, but looks like you did a nice job. Glad it's working.

Nice looking lawn and I can see why you don't need football being played on it.

Let me guess... they probably thought it was OK to overlap onto the part of your yard up to approximately where the corner of your house starts. (the corner nearest their front yard). That would be kind of a natural tendancy from wishful thinking since they were allowed to before you moved in. Probably no ill intentions involved.

Hopefully they have changed their rules and the problem is cured. Not much you can do about the sidewalks or streets. That is community property.

I would suggest you give the PVC style some more thought. If they get hit hard enough with a ball especially when cold they can sometime split which could create a whole new chapter to your problems with them. In the next growing season or two the bushes should really start to take off which should give you plenty more barrier.
I do feel your pain as it sucks having to be proactive to protect your property from a neighbors kids because the parents just suck at life and being a parent.

I would have suggested rose bushes. Let them play in the yard and I guarantee that it would only take one time of them falling and getting a butt cheek full of thorns and they'd stay out from then on.
