Neutral Gear Faster Than Drive Gear

    I downshift to get engine braking when towing trailers. The Taco's brakes aren't that great, and couple that to driving around in 100+ heat those brakes are gonna get toasty quickly.

    Most all automatic cars I've had, putting it into second gear, STARTs the car in second gear- helpful for snowy roads and the like.

    Putting it into 3rd or 4th going UPHILL is critical so that your tranny isn't hunting for the right gear all the time. Same with towing. If you are in 5th and it keeps wanting to jump down a gear or two, you will heat the tranny up from all the shifting and shorten its life.

    I thought putting the automatic(atleast in our trucks) in second gear limits the top gear to 2nd gear but still starts in 1st.
