I am not sure what years have them. I have a 98 and it is the first tacoma I have ever even been in, it has the neutral safty switch to the left of the steering wheel. My question is the truck will only start with that switch turned on whether the cultch is in or it's in neutral. Meaning I can only start my truck at all only when the switch is on. How can I fix thin incase one day that switch decideds to stop working

Not sure what your problem is? Sounds like the switch is doing its job. If it "stops working" bypass until a replacement can be installed.

on autos the switch is on the shifter or sometimes on newer cars a second one is on the brake pedal and on manuals its on the clutch pedal. if it fails you replace it, that's all you can do, you don't ever want to "rig it" to start without it.

Ok so everyone of these trucks you have to push that button to start it? I thought that it was just for if you wanted to start the truck in neutral with out the clutch pushed in. This truck will not start in neutral with clutch in or out or in gear with the clutch in unless the button is pushed

Sounds like the neutral switch on the clutch pedal is broken or disconnected.

The clutch safety switch on the clutch pedal has most likely gone bad. These trucks should all start just by pressing the clutch in. The switch is actually just really nice so that you can start your vehicle without sitting in the seat and depressing the clutch. So if it is ONLY starting from the switch on the dash, then the pedal switch is most likely bad.

it should be. Look up "pedal" switch or clutch safety switch on a parts site.
