Looking to upgrade from my 245 stock dunflops to 265/75/16 all terrains.
I've done extensive research on the forum and googled my heart out.

    I can't make a final decision though.

    My situation:

I do zero off-roading, this is to aesthetically please my eyes.
My concerns are price, lifetime durability, appearance (obviously).

    The questions I have...

    P vs LT
The only real question I have on this is the lifetime durability. Will the passenger tire wear faster?

Bang/Buck - I thought I was sold on the Hankook Dynapro ATM for this reason, but they are P rated... So that goes back to the above question.

It appears that the majority here are for Duratracs and the look great.. but are pricey. I did get a stellar quote shipped to the door for $770 plus a $60 rebate.

But I can get one of these to the house for $530.

    Cooper Discoverer ATP (P)
    Falken Rocky Mountain ATS (LT)
    Hankook Dynapro ATM (P)

    Goes back to bang/buck.

Comes down to this: Are the Duratracs worth the extra $200? Will the bargain tires aesthetically please me and last?

Advice, feedback, concerns, comments, questions.... All welcome
    Thanks!

Great tire but... Quotes have been higher than Duratracs, which is already high for me.

Cooper AT3, and you can get it in P265/75. You do zero off roading so i see no reason to get a LT tire. Nitto terra grappler comes in this size also.

I have had firestone a/t on my truck and they last a long time, hardly any tread wear, however they are not very aggressive looking. IMO the BFG a/t are the best tire, but are very pricy.

I've narrowed my selection to those I mentioned... I'm leaning toward the Dynapro's, but I don't want to be dissapointed with apperance or wear.

Although i only have less than 1,000 miles on them (i don't drive much), I can 100% vouch for Hankook Dynapro ATM P265/75r16. I switched from heavy 285 Mud-Terrains. Road handling is great - dry/wet/and impressive on the heavy snow we had this winter. And i like the looks of them (but i went black sidewall). I think i paid $675 mounted/balanced.
P is great for MPG. My truck is for beach/ski/scuba trips mostly (i live in the city and use mass transit otherwise). I am satisfied and my brother just put them on his Jeep Commander b/c he liked them on my truck and he is happy as well.
Sorry to be longwinded, but i went through the same back/forth you are going through. Everyone said Duratrac but it just isn't the right tire for my needs...Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input man. So you are happy with the look of the Dynapros? They have to look helluva better than the dunlops...

I've had Nitto Terra Grapplers and Hancook Dynapro AT/Ms. Personally - I like the Nittos better than the Hancooks.

If you like the looks of the BFG AT's check out the General Grabber AT2 tire. Looks almost identical but a LOT cheaper. I had a set on the first 05 I had. They are a little on the heavy side so I did see about a 1MPG decrease in highway mileage but the snow traction was awesome, they had a little hum to them, nothing like a MT tire though, and after 30k miles when I sold the truck they still looked new.

I have the same crappy dunlops on mine now. Brand new and I can't wait to swap them out. And the steelies with chrome hubcaps. Yuck.

I love my Cooper AT3's too. They're aggressive looking, work well in all of the conditions ive used them in (rain and snow and some mud - no off roading). good tire wear too. Keep them rotated though.

They're becoming more common - i've seen a lot of vehicles with them lately.

Yeah I am happy. Here are some more pics. To Bacon Bits point, I have never driven on the Nitto's but I really liked the look of them. based on reputation, I would go either way. But as a user, i am very happy with the hankooks.

I went through the exact same situation and finally decided on General Grabber at2 in P265/70/16 and I'm very happy with them so far. I do very mild off roading though.

They are agressive looking and rated for 60,000 miles which is 10,000 more than the hankooks. I was able to get them for $150 per tire. But to be honest I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I got 55k or so miles on my Nittos when I had 'em. Got about 50k on the hankooks right now. For a straight street tire you can't go wrong with either.

For whatever it's worth - Mine have seen their fair share of off road trails too and have done a decent job. they seem to be a little thin on the sidewall but other than that they've been a good tire that have held up decently to a lot of abuse lol

In the end it's all about personal preference and what you are looking to get out of them :)

I went out to Discount yesterday to get some Cooper ATP's put on. Paid and waited 2 hours only to find out there inventory was wrong and they only had 1 stock. After I refused to allow them to order some and come back another day the salesman and I work out a deal on a set of Cooper ST Maxx. My stock Dunlops only had 5500 miles on them so they worked a deal for store credit on them and I got out the door for $740. Considering the ATP's were going to cost $635 I think I got a steal of a deal. I was there almost 4 hours but in the end it worked out.

Does anyone have the toyo open country all terrains? I'm also looking for the best bang for the buck tires and have seen some of these tires are warrantied for 65000 miles? Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks
