If you losers aren't doing an oil change before every start up, you're dumb.

On a serious note, I do 5k intervals because that's just what my friend taught me when he taught me to do oil changes. Some of my friends do it every 10k and haven't experience any problems... yet. And they're not over 100k on the odo yet.

Were well over 100k miles with our prius doing only 10k mile oil changes. So far the motor hasn't blowed up, or become an oil burner.
I'm just waiting to be told were going to have to start wearing masks again to change our oil.

Ah yes, every engine Toyota has ever produced has been produced the same way.

Do all white people also need glasses by 40?

Its all about having commonsense, and logic when maintaining todays vehicle, and some just have none of both.

Fun fact, my 1984 Celica with the 22RE had 10k mile oil change intervals.

Driving habits vary, but our family and parents over the years had 2003, 2004, two 2008 4runners and a 2010 Tacoma. All of them burned oil with 10k changes after about 120,000 miles. About 3/4 quart every change.

The 2014 Tacoma went 160k before trade in with 5k changes and only burned about a fraction of quart which is normal. Our 2014 rx350 with 140k and the 2GRFE gets 5k changes. It burns something so low that I can’t tell. The 2023 OR new to me will grt the 5k changes based on my experience. 7500k is probably ok. That is all.

My 2013 Sienna with a 2GR-FE burns nothing. 140k with 10k changes since new.

That makes some sense, basically what I get out of that is if you use the vehicle easy and use good oil and they're ok with 10K, no physical change except the lubricant. Probably works fine for many drivers. Do they also specify a time interval (not to exceed)? If it's not your daily driver 10K that could be years. They spec'ing thinner oil except where the vehicle is used hard. That tells me if I baby it I can change every 10K and be ok, understandable. I suspect many if not most vehicles these days aren't on the road long enough to wear out the motor and if they are it's rarely the original owner so there's little to no downside to the manufacturer. Toyota isn't alone in doing this. I wanted to see if they had an actual modification to warrant the addl miles but like the rest it's just a change in lubricant to something many of us already use. Doesn't mean it won't work but nothing about it changes my mind, I'd always want to be protected for severe use ether way.

I've got 140K on mine and it doesn't use oil, 5K changes.

Am I mistaken but the vehicles you listed off were recommended 5k oil changes from Toyota?
