LMAO Okay BakoTruck now you got me wondering. Doesn't your owners manual say to let the truck warm up prior to driving it? Mine does...UNLIKE the other lucky guys/gals on this forum...mine hasn't quit yet so I can't buy a new one. Don't know what the latest owners manual says.

My VW and BMW owners manuals both said to start the vehicle then drive it away very slowly and continue at a slow speed until the engine heat indicater begins to rise.

When I picked up my BMW in Germany they gave me the same brief when they gave me a class on how to drive the car. In this brief they explained the engine warmup procedure and how GERMAN engineers determined that was the best way to warm and lube the engine.

I know the manual says that, I was just wondering what you meant by the "the German idea" since other car companies recommend the same thing. I also do this method, and have posted to others on it. I think it's the way to go, for our trucks.

auto transmissions have pump in them. it takes it a second to warm up and get going. the pressure of the fluid is what makes the vehicle move. sounds normal, no worries man!!

I wasn't aware that other car mfg's recommended the start then drive off. The only one I was aware of were the german built cars. Just for grins what other mfg does rec. the start drive. Is there anything outside of europe that you mentioning specifically....just curious

:DThe touchy brakes is probably because the fluid is thicker upon initial startup. Yes, your tire can freeze to the ground. And I always start and drive. Letting your truck idle only warms the cab, and the engine. The rest of the fluids, like your diff and tranny(manual) don't warm up because there is no friction causing heat. I am quite sure your truck is fine. :D

A majority of ice build up is usually from frost. As the temp decreases the moister in the air condenses and eventually freezes on pretty much anything (the next day you might feel like your truck/car has its brakes on until you hear a snap as the ice breaks off). You can also get lots of Ice build up when driving in wet weather. Water splashes into the underside of your truck and can freeze.

My Volvo would do that, the fluid would drain back out of the torque convertor, never a problem with the trans.

Another possibility in freezing weather would be frozen rear brakes or frozen parking brake cable (holding the brakes on). About 1/2 the time the handle in the cab will feel the same, other times it goes kind of limp. Could be caused by a number of things, driving on wet roads, 1/2 melted snow, etc.
Had that happen a few times while living in Maine... Learned to park on flat surfaces and leave it in gear w/o using the parking brake in winter.
