Today I had to change the motor oil on my daughter’s crossover car, a Nissan Juke Nizmo bought on 7/7/2015. Overall the car has been problems free. From factory (Japan) the car came with Michelin tires. After 19000 miles of use, the tires were bald, dangerous to drive. She drove the car on pavement, mostly to college and back with sometimes getaways to places around and friends. Afterall is a crossover, low clearance vehicle and not an off-road truck. Around 9/2017 I went to Discount Tire local shop and bought 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires to replace the OEM that were shot…☹

While changing the oil, I took a look at the tires to check if they need air and saw that all tires were bald again…WTH??? The brand and model that I bought; Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 are warrantied to 45000 miles. In a hurry went to Discount Tire (same place) and asked them how many miles are on the “new” tires? D/T sales person said that since I bought the tires till now, there are 42000 miles on them. What about the warranty from Michelin to 45000? Crickets from D/T sales person…I asked him where were the tires made? Crickets again. I told him that I want the same tires ordered to replace the bad ones. He checked and responded that is impossible to order the same tires, nobody has them in stock. How come? Aren’t Michelin the best tires and pushed aggressively by D/T to everybody? Well, none in stock since they were made in China…☹ ☹ ☹.

My wife has a Toyota Camry 2017 SE that also came with Michelin tires that went bald after 25000. Have replaced them with Michelin about 1 year ago and they start to give signs of premature wear also.

This is the second time I got scammed by the big Michelin brand and I got my expensive lesson. Never again, will tell anybody looking for tires to stay the hell away from the famous Michelin brand. Garbage.

Will contact Michelin this week and see what they say but my expectations are very low, almost non-existing for a positive response from them to honor their warranty.

    THANK YOU MICHELIN!

For starters, tires don’t get bold. They get bald.

Secondly, based on the images you show, the tires are wearing unevenly due to an alignment issue. You didn’t mention if you got an alignment after the tires were replaced in 2017.

Lastly - if tires are warranted to 45,000 miles and you have 42,000 miles, they owe you a prorated amount of $$ for the last 3,000 miles they didn’t meet the lifetime expectation. You don’t get new free tires. That’s not how it works.

Michelin is amongst the best tire out there... I challenge you to find a tire that has better performance and longevity.

That car needs an alignment BAD. The tires aren't the problem here.

P.S. Also, how did they get "famous" if they're so bad?

Yea that’s the classic sign of bad alignment. Hell some cars just eat tires too. Lexus is350s? Your lucky to get 20k out of a set of 60k tires

I've always had balancing issues with Coopers, not sure if the techs were bad at their job or what, but Toyo and Nitto are the best hands down in my book!

    BOLD = auto correct...
Don't want new tires from them. Alignment was done in May/2019. This is not the first time I get garbage results from Michelin. I will NEVER get another whatever has MICHELIN name on it.

Actually, the alignment doesn't look terrible compared to the whole tire look.

40K on Pilots sounds good to me, they're soft.

Hate to hear they're being built in China.

    edit: did you rotate

STUPID people like me being duped into buying them. Actually not me, never liked them, wife and daughter (both have extended auto-mechanical degrees from "somebody said" university) love them...the price and longevity not so much...

How does one let there tires get that bad in the first place? This didn't happen overnight. Were they rotated? The edge wear makes me wonder. Have we sent the word prorated warranty out to a team of lawyers to find out what that means?

    lol.

I'll just say that between the parents and my sister and I, we've been running Michelins on everything since at least the early 90s. Never a single blowout, always got good tread life. I would do some more investigation before you write them off entirely. I think there is something else going on here.

Tires have been rotated at Nissan dealer (???) about 8-9 months ago. My fault, I don't look to often at her tires. She is "know it all" type and whatever. Only reason I saw them like that is being under the car changing the oil. If not for that, I would have never paid attention. There is a time in life when people should take responsibility before crash and burn...if not, well Darwin's Law shall prevail.

    ha.
40K is good for a soft tire.

The Suzuki Hayabusa gets about a thousand on a back tire. Pilot or any brand.
